I usually don’t listen to records that are sent to us on the FNT Facebook profile, but made an exception today, and discovered this awesome record “Video Fever” by Israeli group Royal Disco off their free EP “Werewolf At The Disco“. They call their style dubstep disco, and it’s exactly what it sounds like, 80’s synths layered over chopped vocal samples mixed with those wobbles made popular by Skrillex. This record is the shit, and proves that dubstep is not dead, it’s just getting better! Must listen and must download!

Electronic | Hade – Hallway

APARCAR

After a good month of waiting, I’m among probably 3 people in the world that anticipated this track so immensely. Hallway comes off an obscure Workspaces Compilation that I was listening to on a late night while writing my thesis ”Fingers are like little arms.”. As it plays out, this track by Hade struck me as amazing. So much so that I’ve been playing it everyday since. A few scheduling errors deterred the release even passed my already long wait, making it even better to find out today that it’s not only out, but free!

Hade simply layers a bunch of significance over top an array of ancient dubstep wobbles bringing forth a vibe all of its own. The summation on the second drop just brings it all together in an ill way. A cool soundscape that I just love.

Dubstep | Jaymes Young – Fragments (Clark Kent Remix)

Posted by on July 28, 2013

Clark Kent has put out another fantastic track on this lazy Sunday. Sticking to his melodic style, this remix is smooth and moving. It’s incredibly peaceful while still embracing the growls and wobbles of dubstep. Can’t forget to mention the impressive vocals from Jaymes Young! This ones out for free as well!

DO SOMETHING

Dubstep | Usher – You Got It Bad (Aiva Remix)

Posted by on July 5, 2012

It has been some time since a simple yet elegant Dubstep track has been posted. The remix is very basic, I can see where haters would come in on this and say anyone could make that, but in Aiva’s defense no one else has and it sounds awesome. The vocals aren’t over done, the wobbles don’t go overboard, and the blend of the two makes for a tasty laid back Dubstep remix.

Dubstep | Wolfgang Gartner – Redline (Paradigm Remix)

Posted by on May 20, 2012

At the beginning of May, Wolfgang Gartner treated us to his incredible Progressive House song “Redline”. Paradigm takes a dubstep take on the track, and the result is dope. He really emphasizes the wobbles in the drop, check it out below. Show Paradigm some love on his Facebook and check his other tracks on his Soundcloud.

Dubstep, Electro-House, House | Kaskade & Skrillex — Lick It [Remixes] and Music Video

Posted by on April 17, 2012

I was pretty excited yesterday when Kaskade announced the release of the Lick It remixes. I was always a fan of the original despite the way others felt about it, and after hearing Datsik’s remix a few months ago I couldn’t wait for it. Although I was disappointed about his album, this remix is a must have for me with his signature synths and wobbles smashing stages for the past 3 months. Also featured are Norman Doray and Alex Kenji both giving nice progressive adaptations. Alex Kenji’s remix provides a nice upbeat House tempo with some sick progressions and basslines. His remix might even take it for me over the original. You can grab these remixes on Beatport provided in the link below.

Dubstep, Review | Datsik — Vitamin D

Posted by on April 10, 2012

All the heavy dub heads have been waiting for this day to see Datsik release all his hard work onto his first album “Vitamin D”. Being a fan of Datsik and knowing the potential he has; I went into listening to this album with very high hopes. Known for putting out some of the filthiest songs it is safe to say Datsik is pretty well known for his heavy wobbles and crunch sounds. After giving the album a full listen I can say that it didn’t meet the expectations I had for it. As far as the structure of the album goes I will give Datsik the credit of having a nice flow from one song to the next. My problem was with the overall uniqueness of each track and the incorporation of new sounds. Yes, Datsik has some of the sickest sounds and remixes in dubstep, but the repetition of similar or exact same sounds was just too much for me in this album. By the third or fourth song I already knew what sounds and synths he was going to use throughout the track and the drop with maybe a few additions. Nevertheless, I did have a few favorites on the album that I do recommend listening to. Punisher easily took the top spot for me on this album as the dominant track that stood out.  This collaboration with Downlink was filled with heavy bass and Datsik’s signature wobbles combined with Downlink’s style . This track also included some snippets of Biggie vocals which worked out very well. My other three favorites were Syndrome, Complete Control, and Annihilate all for close to similar reasons as Punisher. Just because I didn’t favor this album as much as I hoped too, shouldn’t by any means discourage you guys from not listening to it all the way through.
