Compilation, Featured, House | Top 50 Dance Tracks Of 2013 (Including 50-41)

Top 50 dance tracks of 2013

Yes we know, you may be “top _____ of 2013” listed out, but bear with us as we present you our top 50 dance tracks of 2013. In the past we have done just big room / progressive, but here we attempt to take on the whole genre, from trap to progressive to deep house. A few ground rules and biases for how these tracks were selected. “Top” means biggest and best. So the most supported and played out tracks, first and foremost, but also our own bias as well to make this list not just a carbon copy of every other one you have read. All of us are based in the US / Canada, so our perception of what is played live is a largely US worldview, though we try and take a step back. The songs have to have been released in 2013. So tracks like “Easy”, “I Could Be The One”, “Alive”, “Clarity” and “Harlem Shake”, while all huge in 2013, won’t qualify for the list because they were released in 2012. Tough luck, but I think the artists will manage. Check out 50-41 after the jump and at the end find links for 40-31, 30-21, 20-11 and the best of the best, 10-1.

Electronic, House, Techno | George FitzGerald – Magnetic

It’s a commonly held belief among the underground that Berlin is the ultimate vanguard when it comes to electronic music. “The shit coming out of Germany these days is way more innovative and experimental and compelling than anything in the US, man! Have you even been to Berghain?”

But when you spend 2013 listening to Disclosure, and then you’re suddenly confronted by a track like “Magnetic,” it becomes increasingly difficult to discount the UK as one of the biggest breeding grounds for #FutureGarageSpacetronica talent. With his latest, George FitzGerald (recently named one of the top 50 DJs in the world by none less than Resident Advisor) delivers a deliciously spacey listening experience that seems tailor made for late nights and early mornings alike. Dark, deep synths drive the melody, while eerie vocals and a pounding bassline add another heady layer to the vibe. Stream below and head to Beatport for the DL.

And if you’re in the US (you east coast dogs), be sure to catch this rising star’s upcoming live dates; he’ll be at the legendary Output in Brooklyn tomorrow and the equally legendary U Street Music Hall in DC on Friday. Get it while it’s hot — he’s swinging back to Switzerland and the UK after these two brief but epic US stops. More details can be found here.

House, Pop | Bombs Away – Better Luck Next Time

iTunes: Bombs Away – Better Luck Next Time

Australian duo Bombs Away hits us with their new video for their latest single “Better Luck Next Time.” BLNT has more of a progressive sound than what we’re used to from the guys, with a catchy melodic vocal chorus, and their trademark verses. Still working their way to the American soil, Bombs Away are a household name in the land down under, remixing for the likes of Nicky Romero, Calvin Harris, and Daft Punk, so it’s only a matter of time until their sound makes their way to the US. I believe this one might be the one that takes them there. Enjoy, and let them know, “better luck next time!” This is a must download!
