Deep House, Exclusive, Featured | FNT Exclusive: Raik ft. Henri – Hold Me (Henri Remix)

Raik ft. Henri - Hold Me (Henri Remix)
Talented singer / DJ / producer / general do it all musician, Henri was featured on German producer Raik’s recent EP “Hold Me”. The title track was a solid, deep effort, but seemed to need a little something extra and in stepped Henri to take the reigns. It is not common for the featured vocalist to remix their own song, but here it works and brilliantly. Fluttering plucks accompany a soft bass line and chords, all held together by the hypnotic vocals from Henri. You can grab the original on Beatport here, but we recommend you get the Henri remix for free exclusively through us right now.

Imaginary Friends made up of lead singer Sapphire Adizes, and producers Jimmy Q and Benny Renier release their latest record “Love & Groove” a laid back track with and uplifting piano and funky riffs layered with vocals from R&B singer Sedric Perry, whose voice reminds me of that good good Earth Wind & Fire from back in the days. Mixing electronic tones, intoxicating saxophone melodies, and groovy rhythms, you’re bound to feel the love and groove with this one. This is a must listen and a must download!

Progressive House | Avicii – All You Need Is Love (Maestro Harrell Remix)

Avicii’s “All You Need Is Love” didn’t make the final cut for his album and was only available as a Spotify bonus track. If I had to guess, the reason being for that is probably because, aside from the catchy melody that is in every Avicii song, it was extremely one-dimensional and clearly one of his earlier productions from before his style progressed into what majority of the album consisted of. Maestro Harrell, a DJ, producer, singer and actor from Chicago is the man who gave “All You Need Is Love” some substance and made it into a track worth multiple listens.

DO SOMETHING

Hip-Hop, Videos | Terence Ryan — Whiskey Citizen [Music Video]

Posted by on November 19, 2013

It’s been almost two years since I first heard “Alan’s Right”, and was instantly made aware of the tremendous talent this man possesses. Sure, it’s extremely rare to find an artist (especially at his age) who has learned to expertly produce, mix, rap, sing, and write—but more so, it’s the fact that he has also managed to create a completely distinctive and unrepeatable sound. A sound that certainly was influenced by everything from indie singer-songwriters to underground hip-hop, yet it mimics nothing. With every new release I’m able to see the progress in his production, writing, and his ear—with each release more melodic, more honest, and deeper than the last. He’s been extremely hard at work this year creating what will be “The Revival” album, and today we receive the first release. It’s catchy, yet it resonates, and bares an amount of heart and maturity that we rarely see today. To classify him into any genre would be doing him a disservice, so just check out the song, and appreciate it for the engrossing music that it is.

Hip-Hop, Videos | Dylan Owen — My Name Is Dylan [Freestyle]

Posted by on November 13, 2013

Over the past few years of closely following the trajectories of upstart artists (rappers in particular), one of the most important characteristics of the more enduring artists I’ve found is their versatility. Dylan Owen has rightfully received a tremendous amount of praise since 2011’s Keep Your Friends Close, all synonymous with his innate ability to gratify a variety of listeners with equal ease: honesty-craving singer-songwriter fans, lyrically-focused hip-hop heads, punchline-loving partygoers. While his most recent release, “The Window Seat”, is what he’s best known for—the maturity of perspective, the resonance of his songwriting, the lasting substance—here he concocts a quick reminder that he, too, can playfully rap with the best of them. Reminiscent of the verse he premiered prior to our interview together a year ago, this track is punchline-heavy, and shows off his wittiness and love to play with language. A must listen, regardless of your preconceived genre-affiliations.

Albums, Hip-Hop | Connor Evans – The Road To Coachella [Free Album]

Posted by on July 25, 2013

If you haven’t realized, it’s 2013 and white rappers are in.  Connor Evans has that hybrid rapper/singer west coast sound.  Rooted in Redlands, Cali, he can’t help but have some of that ganja influence in his rhymes, but don’t mistake him for a “weed” rapper.  He raps with intellect, clarity, & confidence.  “The Road to Coachella” is, well, Connor’s first steps on his journey to the big stage; The Road to Coachella.  Not masked by any major features, this album is that sound hip-hop fans are fixed on.  15 tracks in, I can confidently say this young G may be seeing himself on the Coachella lineup sooner than he thinks.  Listen through, but if you have the patience of a pigeon, start off with “Hipsters & Primadonnas” and “Ridin’ on a Storm”.

Cover, Pop, RnB | Spenz — Do Me Now [Music Video]

Posted by on July 5, 2013

I am proud to premiere the raunchy, NSFW visuals for Jamaican R&B artist Spenz’s “Do Me Now”, a reinterpretation of the popular Hit-Boy-produced song by K.Roosevelt that we premiered back in May. As I mentioned before, it’s rare to find an artist who really understands how to improve upon an original, which is exactly what Spenz does, with his smoother, more soulful delivery and strong ear for melody. Look out for more from this talented singer as he readies his debut release due out this November.
