Hip-Hop | Flatbush Zombies – The Hangover

Posted by on October 15, 2012

Seeing as I just got hooked onto their music, Flatbush Zombies, who you might know from the A$AP Mob’s Bath Salts track, release this brand new track. Hailing from Brooklyn, these boys have a similar sound to the A$AP Mob, Action Bronson, Danny Brown, and many of those similar underground rappers. The beat was produced by Erick Arc Elliot, who is usually behind the boards for the group. If you have yet to download their latest project D.R.U.G.S., grab that below.

Albums | Meek Mill ft. Drake – Amen [Video]

Posted by on July 15, 2012

Meek Mill drops off the highly anticipated video off his highly anticipated mixtape(that’s alot of hype). The video features Meek living a lifestyle that we could all envy. Even though this song was dubbed sacrilegious by one Philadelphia pastor who I’m sure wouldn’t enjoy the sexy ladies in this video, I think it’s a damn good song, with some damn good visuals. Say what you want about Drake’s character, he is one of my favorite rappers in the game. I know that I might lose my “man-card” for saying that, but the fact remains that he has one of the smoothest deliveries in the game. He brings his all on the Meek track, all the while looking slightly soft in his jeans and lacoste polo. Whether you like this video of not, Meek Mill has a lot to be praising God for.

Hip-Hop | RiFF RAFF & GHETTY- BATH SALTS (Video)

“RAP GAME DO A BARREL ROLL, WAVE RACE.”

Let me preface this by saying I can’t get enough of Riff Raff. He’s genius. I don’t understand, however, why he collaborates with all of these no-name rappers. It seems that Riff Raff and his video guy have a package a no-name rapper can purchase that includes a verse and a video. I’m not hating on Riff for that, everyone has to pay the bills, I just wish we could get more “You Never Know” type verses that we all know and love Riff Raff for. When Riff Raff writes structured raps, like in the video above, he loses some of his appeal in my opinion. Regardless, Riff Raff continues to captivate, as he’s hands down my favorite artist right now.

DO SOMETHING

Hip-Hop, Videos | Danny Brown – Grown Up (Official Video)

Posted by on June 5, 2012

Detroit’s very own Danny Brown, drops off the visuals his great single, Grown Up. Everything about this video is perfect. The little kid is not only a spitting image of Danny, the clothes and tooth accident make it that much better. Danny has been one of my favorite underground rappers for a minute, so if you have yet to get up to date with his stuff, do so! Also shouts to fellow Fools Gold member, Party Supplies, who produced the video.

Hip-Hop | Action Bronson – A Simple Man

Posted by on April 22, 2012

Some new Action Bronson for this Sunday night. Action’s sound is so unique to most rappers we hear of today and that’s why he is one of my personal favorites. This time going in on a Tommy Mas beat, Action delivers some quality wordplay, much of which is about food, but also goes a cappella for a short time during the song. Add this one to your summer/driving around playlist and expect more Action in the near future.

Hip-Hop | Theophilus London – Big Spender(ft. A$AP Rocky)

Posted by on April 15, 2012

Theophilius London and resident Pretty Mothafu*ka drop off their highly anticipated collaboration. A cool, old school, bluesy/jazz, sample meshes well with the harsher flow that both of these rappers exemplify. Be on the lookout for Asap Muzik dropping soon. And if it’s anything like his last big release, it’ll be huge.

Hip-Hop | Pretty Lights – We Must Go On

Posted by on January 26, 2012

Didn’t think this was going to be the next single from Pretty Lights, but I wont complain. Pretty Lights has this track labeled as Hip-Hop Soul, and you can definitely feel that vibe. I can only imagine what some of you are going to say in the chatbox, “That’s not hip-hop,” but what you don’t realize is that hip-hop is not defined by having raps. Although, I would really like to see some rappers do covers of it. This track is just more proof of Pretty Lights’ musical genius. Kick back, light one up, and enjoy.
