Danzfolk - The Other Side EPCanadian house duo, Danzfolk are fresh faces to the scene, but they have the makeup to become the progressive stars from Canada. The duo just released a 4-track EP “The Other Side” for free that shows the wide range of styles they can put together in one body of work. The EP combines big progressive melodies, blaring horns, and even a funky, disco track “Bring It Back“, to finish out the EP on a nostalgic note.

Adrian Lux Webster Hall 2

Prinz Adrian Johannes Hynne aka Adrian Lux has had a long, winding road to where he is now, rising to his well-respected status in dance music. First getting into music around the age of 16, he started as a hip hop DJ before moving into the more underground realms of dance music that were popular at the time in his native Stockholm. He eventually found his sound, becoming heavily influenced by indie pop and a wide range electronic artists in Sweden from Andrew Beyer, to Axwell, to Eric Prydz.

We had the chance to talk about his tour and his show last Saturday, his early DJ life, moving to America and what he is in store for the future. Having just released his debut album last spring, and another on the way soon, it will be very exciting to see everything he has in store for us.

Machel Montano - The Fog (Major Lazer & Grandtheft Remix)Major Lazer are known for the wide range of musical influences and styles that they draw on and look to incorporate into their music. Whether it is their original work or remixes, they always bring something new to the table. In this latest remix with trap up-and-comer Grandtheft, they take this recent dance hall original from Machel Montano and add slight changes to make it their own. Instead of going for what has been their hallmark lately in trap, they stylize the remix around the dance hall sound, with chunky drums and synths that add an extra element to the track. Hip-Hop, RnB | Trey Palms – I Hate You

Posted by on July 12, 2013

trey palms - i hate youI’ve been following Trey Palms for quite some time now, and his most recent song “I Hate You” is without a doubt some of his best work to date. Seeing as I have a slight predisposition for melodic, R&B tracks I could be a bit biased, however, the hip-hop crossover record that Palms has crafted is likely to appeal to a wide range of audiences. He harmonizes his first two verses, warbling in a slight auto-tuned, yet full-emotion manor. Then, on the third and final verse he flips back to his rapping where he wraps up the song with a few well-delivered bars.

Although I can’t say I’ve been a fan of every single song that Trey Palms has ever released, he is surely making a mark in my mind and heading in the right direction.
