Although LosWas is a Los Angeles native, his musical vibes are out of this world. He dropped a mixtape titled “The Plug Tape.” Never has mixtape boasted such diverse sounds that all come together to form nothing short of a masterpiece. The music blends old school with new school in a creative way that you probably haven’t heard before. It’s certainly impressive, but even more so when you discover he’s 19 and studying music at the University of Southern California. Give the tape a listen and make sure to give LosWas a follow as he has big things coming.

Bass | Oliver Heldens Drops HI-LO Edit of 90s Classic “MHATLP”

Most producers would be happy being a superstar in one genre, but Oliver Heldens is not like most producers. At twenty years old, Heldens has championed an emerging genre in future house, started his own Heldeep Records imprint, and is now turning his attention to the rising bass house genre with his HI-LO moniker. HIs most recent output comes in the form of a HI-LO edit of the forthcoming Oliver Heldens & Da Hool remake of a 90s classic, “MHATLP,” and it’s a modern day makeover of an old school track. The glitchy melody of the original now sits atop a bed of raw, rolling breaks, gruff bass lines, and whiny synth stabs, as Heldens dons his HI-LO mask for this edit. “MHATLP” is due out on September 28th via Spinnin’ Records.

Tropical House | Paxel’s Notorious B.I.G. Remix Gets You Ready For Summer

After having heard countless remixes of The Notorious B.I.G, it was really refreshing to hear one that was different from the rest. French producer Paxel has taken this track and given it an uplifting tropical vibe, using the vocals so well that I almost forgot that the original was actually an old school hip-hop track. If he keeps going like this, Paxel is going to be someone to definitely be on the lookout for in 2015, reminding me of a young Matoma. This one is a free download – so sit back, relax, vibe to it as we watch the snow melt away and sun come out!

DO SOMETHING

Hip-Hop | Christian Deshun – 777

Christian Deshun does it again with the release of visuals for his track “777” off his acclaimed EP SMPLCTY and if this doesn’t put him on the map, then ya’ll don’t know good hip hop. With a unique flow over a beat that’s lead by an old school saxophone top line and that Louisiana swamp swag, there’s no reason for this track not to end up on your playlist. I’ve personally had the track on repeat, feeling like a straight G, getting work done, and bouncing to it all at the same time. If you’re trying to cop this track head over to AudioMack,to download the full EP. This is a must listen and a must download!

Trap | Marvin Gaye – Let’s Get It On (Jimmy Q Remix)

Marvin Gaye Jimmy Q

The 19 year old New York producer that goes by the name of Jimmy Q remixed Marvin Gaye’ sensual “Let’s Get It On” by chopping it up, layering it with a trap beat, and including a subtle sample of Nas’ “Nas Is Like” all for your listening pleasure. If you’re into classics being revisited to be more in tune with the sound of the times, this one’s all you! I honestly couldn’t even tag a genre for this remix, it’s a mix between tech-house, trap and old school hip hop instrumentals.  Either way, this is a must listen and a must download!

Bass, Deep House | NVOY – Perspire

Posted by on December 5, 2013

Just a minute late on this but NVOY’s style is so fresh, I’m not even phased. Last week the Nottingham duo dropped “Perspire,” which, compared to the tracks I’ve shared with you before, takes things to a level one deeper. Their touch on old school house vibes give it something that makes it sound brand new all over again. Give yourself some room to dance for this one.

Electro, Hip-Hop, RnB | 50 Cent – In Da Club (WoodysProduce Remix)

Posted by on November 27, 2013

Even though WoodysProduce actually created the beat back in 2005, he’s taken it upon us to finally release the song as an official remix. Old school jam – new school feel. That is all.
