The Chainsmokers are back with another remix. Surprisingly, I wasn’t that big a fan of their previous remix but I really enjoy this one. It seems they have carved out their own sub genre of progressive house mixed with indie and they do it well. For their latest project they took to remixing Smallpools’ “Dreaming” and they’ve done so in their typical fashion. This may be one of my favorites of theirs.

Hip-Hop, Review | Grubeats’ Top 12 of ’12

Posted by on January 14, 2013

Grubeats; fashionably tardy as always.  I can’t promise I’ve saved the best for last, but hopefully this eclectic mix of tracks tickle’s at least party of your fancy.  I’d enjoy hearing from you in the comments section if you have opinions on any of these songs!

12.) Skizzy Mars – Sirens

This young star didn’t sound my radar until late spring of ’12.  I had heard the name and few scattered verses, but overlooked the true talent Skizzy Mars was bringing to the table until I first heard “Sirens”.  With sounds similar to a young Cudi, Skizzy himself only recently graduated high school and has only begun to lie the brick and mortar for long, prosperous career.

11.) Skrillex & Damian Marley – Make It Bun Dem

As you probably know, I’m not a die heard EDM head like many writers and followers of this site.  No kandi for this kid.  I do however, enjoy just about anything Skrillex lays his hands on.  Couple the addictive production with Damian Marley’s rasta raps and you have pure gold.  If and when hip-hop and EDM cross paths, this is the type of execution I expect. Dubstep | Datsik – Firepower (Melamin & Wicked Sway Remix)

Posted by on December 28, 2012

The track that was the anthem to Datsik’s latest tour, The Firepower Tour, has been remixed in crazy fashion by two up coming artist named Melamin and Wicked Sway. As if the original wasn’t a crazed banger already, this remix is disgusting on a whole other level. Adding some more rhythm to the original and spicing up this classic into a more updated version that is sure to send the crowds going crazy.

Dubstep | Marina & The Diamonds – Primadonna (RoughMath Remix)

Posted by on May 25, 2012

RoughMath who use to call himself Noir has never disappointed me. When he makes a track or remixes one, he knows exactly how to make it one of the best. The vocals on this track sounds cool and very different from a lot of other vocalists out there. RoughMath used the vocals in an A+ flawlessly beautiful fashion. His synth and bass choices are perfect for the feel, simply a sick remix.

Dubstep | R Rated #20

Posted by on March 15, 2012

You all know what this about, let’s get started. This first track is a VIP (Variation In Production) from Eliminate. I know his music for being filthy and ear shattering. This VIP of his does just that, with the need to change your pants afterwards.

It was only two weeks ago since we posted up a track from these up and comers in R Rated. Their VIP mixes are crazy, this one starts out in a slow fashion then they really take off with some filthy wobbles.

A few months ago, not a soul knew who Popeska was. If you are a dubstep fanatic, Popeska is now a household name for you. Dropping original works constantly in a quality fashion, Popeska does not disappoint…ever.

Sound Remedy has been dropping some amazing tracks as of recent, this remix was completely unexpected. I never could have imagined a dubstep remix of this Supremes classic, nor could I have imagined the cool wobbly drop following.
The Supremes – You Keep Me Hangin’ On (Sound Remedy Remix) by Sound Remedy

I had no idea who Street Lurkin was until I heard this freebie from Play Me. I was bumping out to it in my car yesterday with no clue what exactly I was listening to. The drop isn’t crazy or fast, but it is original and really cool sounding. I could listen to this track for hours.

Vaski making another sick remix since his Climax remix. Been a while since he has made consecutive dope drops like this, glad to see he brought it.
  Peso (Vaski Remix) by Vaski

This has to be my favorite track on R Rated this week. Stereohype started making this remix as a joke and it became this serious beast that we have now. The vocal sound sick, and I love the stringed orchestra synth.

Hip-Hop | Ess Vee – Get Right To It

Posted by on February 5, 2012

Word to the wise, persistence pays off. If you’re hungry, you’ll eat. I’ve got to hand it to Ess Vee – his team stayed on my case about getting this dope track posted – he’s definitely armed with passion and hunger. I’m an FNT grandfather so I’m slow to post but when I do, pay attention. Ess Vee harnesses the power of music to reflect upon his life in an introspective fashion. His lyrics are fresh and pertinent to his life events and the social issues, which exist in our present culture.
