Dubstep, Electro-House, Moombahton, Review | Knife Party – Rage Valley EP

Posted by on May 27, 2012

Knife Party’s long anticipated ‘Rage Valley’ EP has finally released, despite the leak a few days back. For those of you that havent the chance to listen to ‘Rage Valley’ in its entirety, it is about time you do so. Kicking off this sick EP is the title track ‘Rage Valley.’ Dirty Electro-House, this track is rage, the initial build up to the drop is immense. Building similar to ‘Internet Friends,’ but without the slightly annoying iPhone ringer and dropping like a Unicorn on Bear steroids. The next track is my favorite for sure, ‘Centipede’ has been played in Knife Party’s live sets for over a year now. It is exactly what dubstep fans love to hear. I love how the intro mentions how the Centipede is basically better than the Tarantula, for those of you that don’t know Knife Party’s other allias, Pendulum, has a track named ‘Tarantula.’ The track is filthy, portrating the power and deadliness that a Centipede has. ‘Bonfire’ I fell in love with instantly, Sev and I have been all over the Reggae vibed Dubstep tracks recently. Even if it is just the vocals, this track hit a sweet spot for us. The last track ‘Sleaze’ I did not know much about before listening. Knife Party couldn’t have ended this epic EP in a better way, ‘Sleaze’ is one of the few Moombahton tracks that I listen to and it wreaks house. This track is the definition of an all night rager, in a live setting I’m sure all of these track destroy the dance floor. The ‘Rage Valley’ EP is what its name says, a rager waiting to happen.

Drum & Bass, Dubstep, Moombahton | Muffler Remixes: Volume Two (Subhuman)

Posted by on May 23, 2012

Muffler and Subhuman are back at it again with Volume Two of the Muffler Remixes. Don’t expect anything less than the grimiest dubstep bangers and the heaviest drum & bass tracks from these guys.  Now that you have been warned, we can continue and disclose these superb tunes.

Pixel Fist making another appearance on a Muffler EP , and yet again bringing another heavy drumstep/drum and bass banger. No complaints from this track, providing the screechy synths and thick sub-bass. Bare bringing a similar styled remix as Pixel Fist, but slower for obvious reasons (BPM). This track separates itself from Bare’s other tracks, because he incorporates more punch to each of his kicks and drops, which overall brings a heavier atmosphere to the track. Continuing on we have three other dubstep/drum & bass remixes provided by Ajapai, Muffler, and Nightwalker. Nothing short of bass-driven bangers from all three artist. I have to say the last remix provided by Billy The Gent X Long Jawns is the most unique and stylish to me being that it is Moombahton. These guys are on the rise and I can’t wait to get my hands on more of their releases. You can get the whole EP on Beatport HERE.

Albums, Dubstep | Minnesota – Astral Projection EP

Posted by on May 22, 2012

The Clairvoyant Californian dubstep producer, Minnesota who is no stranger to you guys, has been kind enough to release a stunning 3 track EP for free. With various vocal bits that sound a bit like a late night w8 rant, Minnesota delivers these flawless productions that are both thoughtful and moving. Minnesota is not going to jolt your senses with jaw dropping bass lines or screeching pitched synths, he relies more on subtleties of his work, crafting each bit the song to create the musical journey that is this Astral Projection. Relying more on sweeping synth chords, adept, agile key play and subtle yet very complex bass lines, Minnesota has gifted us a lasting treasure with this 3 track EP.

Also included is the Astral Projection Mix, a 25 minute mix that included the album tracks, a few remixes of his and some unreleased material. Definitely something you do not want to pass up on. Tracklist after the jump.

Drum & Bass | Netsky — Come Alive EP

Posted by on May 21, 2012

After watching the video for Netsky’s latest single I can only imagine what life would be like living in his shoes. Come Alive has been a Drum and Bass anthem for many artist in the past few months. Adding some new sounds to his arsenal, Netsky has stayed true to his roots by playing the music that made him a staple in DnB. The track starts off nice and smooth with female vocals and your typical Drum & Bass futuristic intro. Swiftly building its way to the drop where Netsky shows his true talents, combining his smashing DnB styled drops with a more drumstep feel. Not many producers can fuze two styles without losing the other and I commend Netsky on doing so. Also on this EP are three other DnB remixes provided by Culture Shock, Rockwell, and Submerse that you can listen to below. Grab Netsky’s single Come Alive along with the remixes on Beatport HERE.

Hip-Hop, Mixtapes | Moufy – The Preparation [Mixtape]

Posted by on May 21, 2012

I present to you Moufy’s pre-EP mixtape, “The Preparation”.  Releasing several of the tracks over the past few weeks, including his most recent releases, “F*ck Ni**as” and “Blunt Burn” Moufy has done his part to shun any doubters. I’ve always said Moufy’s storytelling ability is my favorite attribute he purvey’s as an artist.  Like his deep emotional track, “Miss Newton”, Moufy yet again displays his ability to step back and analyze the hardships in his life throughout his pursuit of happiness in hip-hop on his new track, “Blunt Burn”.  The mixtape definitely includes a variety of sub genre’s like previous projects from Moufy.  Fine-tune your ears for this one affiliates, because Moufy’s improved lyricism and clever wordplay will have you constantly hitting the rewind button.

Dubstep, Electro, Glitch, Hip-Hop | Featured Artist: Savant

Posted by on May 19, 2012

Savant has been a roll lately, and he has been releasing even more since his mishap with his hard drive. I figured since he has an album, ‘Overworld,’ dropping June 6th, it was time for the world to understand his mastery. Savant (Aleksander Vinter) is a Norwegian artist in Dubstep and Complextro, but as we have seen his talents are not limited to the two genres. His 2009 album ‘Outbreak’ released under the alias, Vinter, and was nominated for a Norwegian Grammy. Since then he has release two more top notch albums ‘Nimur’ and his most recent ‘Vario.’ As I stated before, Savant’s hard drive had crashed while working on his new album ‘Overworld.’ Despite the crash, Savant still managed to save most of the album, staying on track for its June 6th release. Savant is one of the better producers that I have listened to, and undeniably one of my top favorites. I have an incredibly great feeling about his upcoming album, it will definitely make a huge impact on the electronic music community. Below are links to his albums ‘Nimur’ and ‘Vario,’ including a teaser for his upcoming album and a few of his most recent free releases.

Drum & Bass | Drum & Bass Friday

Posted by on May 18, 2012

I get really excited when it is my week to do Drum & Bass Friday, in fact this might be my favorite post to do. I really try to keep variety in this post, offering dance, liquid, and heavier styled Drum & Bass tracks. This first track is an absolute gem that is dance floor ready. Traktion released this track in celebration of hitting 1000 likes on Facebook. I really love the vocals on this track, and the feel good vibes. One of my new favorites for sure.

Next we have a Reggae vibed Drum & Bass tune. Using deeper bass effects, this is an awesome chilled out track using vocals from Bob Marley.

With an almost sad feeling to the track, Paranoid Break teamed up with vocalist RaRCharm really put together a very emotion liquid original. The piano really sets off the infused emotion of this. Despite the sad vibe it gives off, this is a great track.

Before we get to the heavier Drum & Bass I had to squeeze in this last gem. ShockLine is another one of the no body producers I love to stumble upon. What caught my eye about this track was not just that it is a great Drum & Bass tune, but his creativity to blend in a bit of Trance as well. Those of you trying to get on FNT, creativity is a major thing I look for. Do your own thing.
