Monstercat has been great at supporting up and coming acts right when they are getting noticed. For that reason I have found some releases to sound a little unpolished, but you have to take a step back and look at the overall talent of these kids. One release that sounds polished and arising from UK producer, Draper. The opening track “Coloured Glass” was previewed last week and has taken off across the internet, but now we are able to hear the rest of the EP. My two favorites are the bookending tunes that have totally different tones, with the energetic melodies in “Coloured Glass” and the soothing pads of “With You”. Here is a new track called “Come Back For Me” off of Jaymes Young’s new EP called “Habits Of My Heart”. His voice is so unique and recognizable, and I mean that in a good way. The style he sings with conveys the emotion behind his tracks beautifully. “Come Back For Me” features his signature style over slow ambient synths and harmonic layers. So remember that dude who produced Vic Mensa’s huge track Feel That? That same dude, Smoko Ono, is now moving onto bigger and better things. Case and point with his brand new track featuring the Chicago songstress and Most Dope artist, Njomza. The track starts up slow but really gains its character with the build up. Is this is any indication on what Smoko’s upcoming EP, Slackin & Mackin, which will be released this fall, then it’s definitely going to be big. Even though the internet hype has moved almost exclusively over to tropical house and future bass, Pierce Fulton has still kept his level of “coolness” this whole time. His latest release, a freebee, was about as cool as it gets for the summer, but this new tune comes close to topping it. “Kuaga” is the melodic gold we have seen in a few past productions from Pierce and will be in your libraries 9/1 along with the second tune on this EP, “Noon Gun”. Electro-House, House | Mat Zo – The Up Down Left Right EP

Not too much time left on this, but the master, Mat Zo has released his debut release on his new imprint Mad Zoo under Anjunabeats. He releases his previously released collab with The Knocks, “Get Down 2 Get Up”, alongside a totally new tune that shows the versatility in the Mat Zo production arsenal. “Get Down 2 Get Up” is much funkier than what we have seen and “Left To Right” heavier, so it will be interesting to see if he continues to experiment in the coming months or try and go with this trend, with some drum n bass mixed in.
We will see the direction of the label going forward, whether or not he goes with strictly his own releases, or also finding tracks from new producers and releasing them on Mad Zoo. He will release the songs for free first and then go with a traditional label for release. As we wait for what the future brings, grab the two track EP below for free.
