Dubstep | Rusko – The Lost Dubz Part 1 & 2

Completely under the radar this past summer, Rusko released 2 small files each containing old unreleased tracks of his. Called The Lost Dubz, part 1 contains 6 of his more reggae, chill styled dubstep. Part 2 is made up of 5 classic dubstep driven Rusko tracks, which include a remix of Skream’s Dutch Flowers track. Seeing as Rusko’s new track Somebody To Love drops in just 4 days on the 24th, it seemed proper to get people thinking about Rusko with these 2 files. Rusko also has a new album dropping this year, March 26th in the UK and March 27 in the US. Below are my 3 favorites of the 11.

I am not even settled in to my new abode over here in Toulouse, France, but I had to get you guys some fire because I have been AWOl the past few days because my grandma does not have internet at her place. Cazzette was nice enough to give away their much anticipated single “Killmode” in the bootleg with the lyrics from Fatboy Slim’s “Right Here, Right Now”. Killmode may be their best single to date and to have it be for free makes it even sweeter, so do not pass up on this gem from the Swedish duo. This is a great way to start 2012 for these guys to watch out for what they do the rest of the year.

Luxe is composed of two Berklee College of Music students, Eric Kwong and Michael Moss, whose mission is to create electronic music that represents tradition, while integrating cutting-edge ear candy. When this duo isn’t in the studio, they can be found spinning at one of the most successful clubs in Boston. Beast is their first dubstep release to date, and they make quite the entrance…this track hits hard, the second you press play.

Dubstep | xKore – Event Horizon, Full Russian Preview

Add xKore’s EP to the list of EP’s I can’t wait for in 2012. I can honestly say there isn’t one track that xKore has put out so far that I didn’t think was a banger. The ruffneck, dirty synth sounds he uses always grabs my attention and the variation in them from track to track keeps me wanting to hear more of his tunes. Sammy recently dropped the first single, “Blow Up”off his debut LP, since inking a major deal with RCA Records at Sony. A sprightly hook and verses his fans can relate to, Sam brings us back to the “I Hate College” days. Yes he has a fair amount of work to do to build himself back into the freshman that stunned the world with his debut EP release, but now with the proper tools in place I’m confident Sam’s going to be resurrecting his brand and reaching a new level of success. Sammy traced back his roots and found himself shooting this video in Allston, MA where he first started to “Blow Up”. Despite this being the first music video we’ve seen since “Still I Rise” with G. Curtis, this project encompasses every aspect necessary for national and international success and should kick start Boston’s Boy back onto the charts. No confirmed date yet for the album, but we can definitely expect a grade A projet in 2012.

25 sittin’ on 25 mil. Drizzy brings his batting gloves as he knocks the new visuals for “The Motto” out of the park. Fellow CMB members Lil Wayne and Tyga join the show, both delivering crisp verses over the rhythmic T-Minus production. The real question I have is WTF is Weezy wearing on his feet? Neon green casts? Snow boots? This is “swag” on a whole new level. #YOLO

The title track off Rihanna’s scorching new album, Talk The Talk, got the Bauce Sauce treatment. Not an official remix, but Ross adds a verse at the commencement of the track. Rozay confirmed that he’s been working on a new mixtape and will be revealing the title and release date by week’s end.

Nelly aiming to resurrect his radio presence? By the sounds of this new track, “Champion” off his next mixtape, Nelly appears to be looking to make a case for the mainstream. Fans can relate. The song will probably be picked up by a movie or sports commercial. 80’s baby’s will always love Nelly. Get ’em Megget!

Progressive House | Dimitri Vegas, Like Mike, Promise Land & Mitch Crown – Alarma

The Belgian duo, Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike have combined with the Italian Duo Promise Land to give us this bomb, “Alarma” with Mitch Crown on the vocals. First previewed way back over the summer, “Alarma” was first scheduled to be released on Halloween with that packed release date, but got pushed back until the 19th. It has the heavy hitting synths you expect from Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike as well as the smooth piano builds from Promise Land. There is also the Miami 305 mix, which is a remix title that Promise Land uses a lot, which takes out the vocals. Get them on Beatport HERE.
