Coyote Kisses - Thundercolor EP

Oh Coyote Kisses, how I have missed your music so. It has been too long since we have had some new music from you guys and this EP is exactly what we needed. The Thundercolor EP is the longest release to date from US producers Bryce Bresnan and Joe Sussingham better known as Coyote Kisses. Trained musicians, the two of them showcase their compositional ability and the ability to create musically interesting sounding songs. The 4 track EP encompasses much of the wide variety of sounds and styles that they have embraced already in their young and promising careers, while expanding their sound even further.

While many EPs sound like 4 random songs thrown together, this one has the sound of a mini-16 minute album, giving you a small snippet of the overall creative process at work with the two of them. The EP starts slow with the soothing “Diving At Night“, mixing a slow piano melody with a pitched vocal and subtle guitar chords. “Stay With You” is most like the unique sound and style they have developed with a blend of bouncy, differentiating bass lines, bright synths, while “This Is How You Know” brings in some rock infused funk with an infectious synth melody. “Changing Of The Guard“, which can be downloaded for free here, finishes out the EP, capping off the short, but diverse journey Coyote Kisses take you on, showing off their musicianship with a prominent guitar and subtle melodic synths underneath.

A project one year in the making, Coyote Kisses give us spellbinding productions that make it entirely worth the wait. Their quality over quantity sound makes it easy to revisit each individual track plenty and with this EP, you will be back again in no time.

Hip-Hop, Preview | Clams Casino Ft. MF DOOM – Bookfiend

Posted by on April 29, 2013

MF DOOMI know last week I posted a remix mixtape someone did of MF DOOM, but I am more excited to be posting up this fresh track from the master lyricist. Collaborating with one of Hip-Hop’s top producers right now, Clams Casino and MF DOOM were meant to work together. Clams did a incredible job on this usual DOOM vibed beat, it really sets up MF DOOM to spit as he does, with the the utmost understandings of the universe. No release date yet, but this track will release sometime this year.

Electro-House | Fedde le Grand – Rockin’ N’ Rollin’

Fedde le Grand - Rockin N Rollin

Fedde le Grand takes his time between releases, notably originals, and it pays off in the quality that pervades his discography. Coming off of his late 2012 single “RAW”, and one of the Ultra anthems with Sultan & Ned Shepard “Long Way From Home“, Fedde le Grand has been slowly gearing up for an album hopefully releasing later this year and this latest single is his latest effort to hold us off until then. Premiered as this jump off track for his weekend one mainstage set, “Rockin N Rollin” sets itself apart with its chugging low end, thumping bass, robotic vocals and a fast paced synth laden interlude. It is always great to see a new track from Fedde le Grand and this one is just another quality one from the high flying Dutchman.

Chill, Dubstep | Gemini – Fire Inside (Mr FijiWiji Remix)

Posted by on April 16, 2013

Gemini - Fire Inside (Mr FijiWiji Remix)It is just a natural connection that when I think beautiful melodic tunes that Mr FijiWiji comes to mind. This is the most incredible remix of “Fire Inside” to date in my opinion. Mr FijiWiji’s intro is simple yet elegant, calmly carrying you like a river carries fish to the ocean. The drop happens to be one of the more breathtaking oceans I’ve ever heard of.

Chill, Hip-Hop, Rap, RnB | Jetpack Jones – That Blow ft. Robby Ra$hu (Prod. by Beemo)

FNT favorite, Jetpack Jones, unleashes his newest single on the interwebs today. My internet was being spotty(shout out to Bright House customer care on Twitter) and I couldn’t listen to the song for about 3 hours. When I finally realized I should download it instead of trying to stream it, I was hit with a sense of euphoria as I listened to the track for the first time. Jetpack often sends me music and claims it’s his best work to date, I’ve grown accustomed to hearing the same sound from him. That is by no means a bad thing, as I enjoy his sound immensely, but this song has changed my view entirely. That Blow does have the same Jetpack feel I’ve come to know, along with the extraterrestrial-type beat he so often paints his pictures over, but it also features the best lyrics I’ve ever heard from the Lakewood rapper. Stream and download the track below and check out Jetpack on Facebook and Twitter.

Electro-House, Progressive House | Lift Off #010

Posted by on March 23, 2013

Many things are changing now that spring is upon us. Girls are going to start wearing more revealing clothing, the weather is going to transition from cold to slightly less cold (I live in Canada), and Lift Off is no longer monthly. From now on, Lift Off will go up weekly on Saturdays, primarily because we didn’t like how the tracks we posted would end up being weeks old. This way, every track that goes up will be no older than a week. It will also mean that there won’t be as many songs on each edition as there were previously, though we feel this is an acceptable sacrifice for more up to date tracks. We start things off above with Reuben Keeney’s “Good times together” which is carried by a Kaskade like piano and soft vocals before hitting a progressive drop.

Candyland released an EP in honor of their Miami debut at WMC. My favorite track of the EP is their festival remix of Timeflies’ “Nothing At All”.

The Plastic People remix of the Imagine Dragons “It’s  Time” was my favorite song for quite a while. Markus Cole does a magnificent job of giving the song a progressive refresh that brought the indie-rock song back to life.

No uplifting chords or melodies to be found here, Kevin Drew’s latest “Halogen” is just a massive big room track.

Preview, Progressive House | Pryda – Power Drive (Preview)

Posted by on March 19, 2013

No the release date is no joke, April 1st will mark the occasion for the release of the next Eric Prydz single — the forceful, haunting, yet melodic, “Power Drive”. Coming off of a banner year that saw his 3 CD Pryda album release, increased touring, a move to the US and his tracks “Everyday” and “Allein” still making waves, “Power Drive” is yet another reminder of the unstoppable force that is Eric Prydz. With an Eric Prydz album coming hopefully sometime this year (he says so), he is setting himself up to have possibly an even bigger 2013.
