Hip-Hop, Rap | A$AP Rocky – Angels

Posted by on October 31, 2013

This record “Angels” by A$AP Rocky is dope as hell. The visuals were co-directed by the rapper himself and Luke Monaghan in the streets of New York City. In the video, Rocky and his crew are out terrorizing the streets on BMX bikes, smoking weed, and wearing the Jason mask. In his rap, A$AP spits “I brought the garden back, I brought Harlem back,” those are two big statements, but I’m liking this MC’s progression in the hip hop game since he first came on the scene. This is a must listen!

Events, Review | 5 Things I Learned and Saw At Electric Adventure

Posted by on August 22, 2013

Zeds DeadIn a little Throwback Thursday edition of event reviews, we have Electric Adventure, the 2-day festival that took place at Six Flags, in New Jersey over the 3rd and 4th of August. It combined a bass and trap heavy lineup, with some of the premier roller coasters on the eastern seaboard, giving you an experience where your adrenaline was always pumping, unless you were waiting in line for rides. The lineup was well rounded with guys like Dillon Francis, Seven Lions, GTA, 12th Planet and Zeds Dead all performing over the 2 days. Click past the jump for a few photos and some things I learned and saw at the festival.

Hip-Hop, Videos | Mike Stud- We Can’t Stop (Remix) (Prod. Jon Kilmer & The Arsenals)

“And you can say the way i’m livin’ is wrong, but if you live like I live then you’d be singin’ along”

The 5th week of #SundayStudDay is among us and after many request from fans Mike Stud puts his spin on “We Can’t Stop” by Miley Cyrus. Originally produced by Mike Will Made It, Jon Kilmer and the Arsenals put together a pretty similar production themselves that fits Mike’s style perfectly. It’s obvious at this point that there is no stopping Mike Stud. Catch him and the touring’s boring crew on The Relief Tour now in a city near year.

House | Kaskade – Raining (Late Alumni Redux Mix)

Posted by on May 20, 2013

Kaskade at U Street Music Hall

Did you catch Kaskade’s Redux tour? I did (the above pic is actually from the stop I hit, so I’m somewhere in that rowdy, sweaty crew) and it was an absolutely amazing night. This remix of his beloved classic “Raining” was one of the mainstays on Redux and unsurprisingly drew quite the reaction when it dropped here in DC. Of course, deep house isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but Sunsun’s vocals work perfectly with the track’s chilled out vibes.

Hip-Hop, Mixtapes | The Suns of Society — Do What You Love + Mixtape Release

Posted by on January 1, 2013

Though I’ve had this crew on my radar for awhile, I’m just now getting around to dropping this terrific mixtape released by VA duo The Suns of Society, made up of B.Love and Hunter Stout, who collectively handle the production, vocals, and songwriting. This East Coast-bred hip-hop/acoustic/soul group has a universal appeal, as they fluidly combine elements of many different genres in their unique sound. Check out the first single, “Do What You Love” below, and get yourself a copy of their impressive debut LongboardmusicHD below.

Chill, Hip-Hop, Rap | Jetpack Jones – Life’s a Beach ft. Reem Riches (Prod. By D.Shuts)

Posted by on October 21, 2012

FNT favorite(and veteran) Jetpack Jones releases ANOTHER free, quality, single for his loyal crew. Although I believe that the whole concept of “life is a beach(bitch?)” is overused, the message behind it is deep and meaningful. Jetpack conveys that message in a unique, catchy, and fun way, as he does with so many other mantras. Grab the download below and like his facebook page to show your support and get the latest on the Lakewood native.
