Events, Review | I Love This City (Day 1 Recap, San Francisco)

Posted by on May 26, 2012

I Love This City may be one of my most favorite events I have been to, with the one negative being that having a huge festival in an amphitheater with seats may not be the best idea. Even with that said I had a great time on day 1. The day over, sore feet, and a camera packed with awesome photos, I would say the day was very successful. We managed to catch the following artists in order, Fareoh, Nervo, Araabmuzik, Cookie Monsta, Tenderloin (Chuckies replacement due to missed flight), Steve Aoki, Sebastian ingrosso, and Afrojack.

Moombahton | Carly Rae Jepsen – Call Me Maybe (:Dface Remix)[FNT Exclusive]

Posted by on May 21, 2012

I have been wanting to release an exclusive track from :Dface ever since I started getting into his Moombahcore remixes a while back. Well I finally got it all worked out and we are left with this unexpected, yet mindblowing Dirty Dutch transitioning to Moombahton remix of the popular, Call Me Maybe. This track won me over after the first play. :Dface uses the vocals superbly by accompanying them with his melody, then building up to the dope Afrojack styled drop which surprised me coming from him. It isn’t over there, because the second drop is even better. He incorporates his signature Moombahton style into the end by slowing down the second drop and slamming us with those Moombah flavored drums mixed with the dutch synths.

Events, Review | Ultra Music Festival 2012: Recap, Sets, Pictures and Videos

Posted by on March 30, 2012

At about 7:40 p.m. last Friday, I’m standing towards the front of a monumental crush of neon, glitter, and tanned body parts waiting for Afrojack to take the mainstage. A lot has happened even though we’re barely three hours into the weekend: Alvin Risk has bounced back with considerable swag from a temporary speaker malfunction; far too much money has been surrendered to the good people shilling water and vodka red bulls; somehow, against all odds, we’ve managed to run into a smiling and very friendly Skrillex. The sun is beginning to set and I’m looking down at my phone to run through my pictures when the following notification pops up: Liz F. has sent you a request in Draw Something!

As I weigh the merits of listening to Benny Benassi close out an epic set against attempting to render an anatomically correct J.Lo with my right index finger, my thoughts turn to Alan in The Hangover, when Bradley Cooper’s all “put some pants on, man, I find it a little weird I have to ask twice” — “Pants at a time like this?!” Same idea. Draw Something at a time like this? Really? C’man Liz. Get your life together, bro.

Afrojack appears, a pounding beat takes hold, and the crowd begins to thrash in earnest. My phone is instantly forgotten. At that moment, it hits me: I’m in Miami, I’m surrounded by some of my very best friends who are in turn flanked by literally thousands of people, and everyone is just excited as I am to be right here, right now. How on earth can anything ever top this?

Electro-House | Afrojack – Fatility

Posted by on March 13, 2012

Afrojack back at it again with yet another big release this week entitled Fatility. Still keeping the standards high after his previous release with Shermanology, this track brings in that same Dirty Dutch style we were so used to hearing from him in his early days. We saw little glimpses of this banger on live stream a few weeks ago and since then the fans have been dying for its release. Through the buildup we can progressively hear those signature Afrojack sounds we are so accustomed to hearing, while slowly building up to that sexy, high pitched dirty dutch drop. Ill leave you guys with some words from the wise, “If it ain’t Dutch it ain’t much.” -Middy.

Progressive House | Afrojack & Shermanology – Can’t Stop Me (Club Mix)

Posted by on January 23, 2012

This song is absolutely massive, like the size of the sun massive. The combination of vocals from Shermanology, who did vocals for “Blessed” with Avicii and have collaborated with Fedde le Grand, Chocolate Puma as well as Afrojack previously; have created a song that will be heard all around the world in clubs, cars, festivals and everywhere in between. Afrojack toned down the bleepy dutch house that we heard in “Lost & Found Vol. 2” and gave us an infectious, pitched, synth driven electro / progressive house instrumental that you cannot help but love and want to dance to. A subtle piano melody underneath the vocals in the build puts everything together in this song. Get this track on BEATPORT.

Mashups | DOSVEC – MUNDO

Posted by on January 16, 2012

DOSVEC just dropped this crazy house banger mashup. Using Archie.V’s new instrumental track, Our World, and adding the final piece to it, DOSVEC picked the perfect vocals to make this amazing. The mashup reflects 3 great vocals, turning the instrumental gem into a heart pounding banger. The accompanying video really sets the mood of the mashup. Let the good times roll.
