Progressive House | 3LAU, Paris & Simo feat. Bright Lights – Escape

3LAU & Paris & Simo

Vegas kid and mashup man, 3LAU has teamed up with Canadian duo, Paris & Simo to present their long awaited single “Escape“. The instrumental version has been hammered out by both 3LAU and Paris & Simo for quite some time now, but now they have acquired the hot in demand vocal talents of LA based singer Bright Lights to give it the anthemic sound it was looking for. This is the first taste of originals from Justin Blau, with the big room twist we have come to expect from Paris & Simo, including their previous release on Revealed Recordings, “Seasons“. For those who say it sounds too similar to “Rift” from Michael Brun & Dirty South, let the above picture of them playing “Escape” at E Zoo on September 2nd, 2012, well before “Rift” was on the market be your evidence of originality.

It is fascinating to see Justin Blau go from being a college kid hanging out in the Las Vegas clubs his dad works with, to now touring all over the US with his first big single getting released on Hardwell‘s Revealed Recordings. Paris & Simo have proven themselves to be champions of the big room sound, while 3LAU still has to prove himself beyond this point with further successes on the original and remix front. As a first original, I am very impressed, and he is heading down the path that MAJK has led from mashups to originals.

Progressive House | Pryda – Layers

Pryda - LayersNovember 24th, 2012. It is 4:30am and me and 3 friends are in a cab coming back absolutely exhausted from Eric Prydz at Roseland Ballroom. He had played encore after encore well past his designated 4am finish slot. No one had the energy to make a sound except for my friend who was repeating this haunting bass line that was stuck in his head that night and for many to come. He has had shown off other huge singles since then, like “Power Drive“, but this track has always been the prize. With “Layers”, Prydz has yet another huge smash single, intricately weaving together spacey synths, elegant strings and a bass line that will get stuck in your head, you can’t escape it.

Videos | Watch Porter Robinson’s Language Tour Mini-Documentary

Posted by on June 5, 2013

porter Robinson language tourLast year, following the release of our number one track of 2012, and his career breaking song, “Language”, Porter Robinson went on a 30 date bus tour across North America with Mat Zo and The M Machine. The 23 minute mini-doc shows how everything came together on the tour, from the artists, to the light guy, to the tour manager and the merch guy. We also see the beginnings of “Easy”, Mat Zo & Porter Robinson’s late-2012 smash single. It is worth watching all the way through and lets you get to know Porter better as a person, showing his story from a family side and managerial side or things, while also getting to know Mat Zo & The M Machine as well, who are prominently featured in this mini-doc.

Sean Lives On 2013

Sean Lives On was founded by Zach Kardisch in 2012 in memory of his late friend, Sean Riley.  Sean passed away in high-school from a rare form of cancer, but while being treated by the excellent staff, was forever grateful to Winthrop Children’s Hospital.  Because of that, donating to Winthrop was a no-brainer for Zach. The inaugural event, held in 2012, was able to raise over $10,000.  During the year, he was able to partner up with Limitless Entertainment, and this year plans on raising $20,000 to donate.

Headlining this great event is recent Lehigh University graduate, Kap-Slap, with support from Aylen and Nammo, who is a cancer survivor himself. Sean Lives On is a non-profit event, with 100% of the proceeds going to the Winthrop Children’s Hospital.  The event is taking place at Warehouse5, in Island Park, Long Island, NY. The event is 16+, and will be held on Thursday, May 23rd.

Electro-House | Fedde le Grand – Rockin’ N’ Rollin’

Fedde le Grand - Rockin N Rollin

Fedde le Grand takes his time between releases, notably originals, and it pays off in the quality that pervades his discography. Coming off of his late 2012 single “RAW”, and one of the Ultra anthems with Sultan & Ned Shepard “Long Way From Home“, Fedde le Grand has been slowly gearing up for an album hopefully releasing later this year and this latest single is his latest effort to hold us off until then. Premiered as this jump off track for his weekend one mainstage set, “Rockin N Rollin” sets itself apart with its chugging low end, thumping bass, robotic vocals and a fast paced synth laden interlude. It is always great to see a new track from Fedde le Grand and this one is just another quality one from the high flying Dutchman.

Electro-House, Videos | Tommy Trash – Monkey See Monkey Do (Tommy Trash Re-Edit) [Music Video]

Posted by on April 19, 2013

Tommy Trash Electric-ZooTommy Trash has cooled off a little to start 2013 in terms of releases after the torrent of remixes and originals that we saw in 2012, cementing himself as one of the fastest rising names in dance music. This may be for the best, since it gives people a chance to fully digest his sound and then get ready for the next wave of Tommy Trash releases that includes “Monkey In Love” on Steve Angello’s Size Records and the vocal mix of “Reload”, set to release May 14th.

The video for his grungy re-edit of “Monkey See Monkey Do”, follows a stuffed monkey crushing the dance floor at Liv in Miami and then on his outer-space adventures in a makeshift UFO as he listens to “Monkey See Monkey Do”. Is the monkey a reference to how everyone gets trashed to Tommy Trash music? I don’t know, but this guy is soaring. Grab the original plus the remixes below on Beatport.
