Albums, Dance, Electronic, House, Summer House | MKJ, No ExpressioN, and Spinner Sunny, combine forces to release “Crashing Down” via Soave Records
Posted by VMan on March 6, 2020
At this point in his career, MKJ has established himself as a seasoned producer and Dj. He has garnered more support independently with his music than most artists could dream of in a lifetime. His song “Time” was a hit in China after becoming a viral sensation online on music platforms such as Tik Tok and Netease Cloud. MKJ is now collaborating with more artists than ever before. The platform that he’s grown for himself in China has made him more noticed amongst artists and label in the dance music community. It’s not surprising to see fresh music being released on a regular basis from him and the artists that he chooses to work with.
“Crashing Down” is the latest offering from MKJ which he has concocted together with Portuguese producer No ExpressioN and Spinner Sunny from Mumbai. The song released through dutch record label Soave Records has futuristic elements while still embracing some deep house derivatives. I’m loving the down-pitched lyrics and songwriting in combination with the unique and catchy instrumental. Not only is this a fresh fit for 2020, the song has a great structure which really compliments the vocal. MKJ’s music has always been full of melodic influences and he’s reputable for his high quality production. It’s terrific to see him joining forces with other interesting artists! With more singles and remixes on his schedule, keep your eyes and ears open regarding MKJ new music these next few months!

French producer DJ Snake seems to know no bounds when it comes to creating today’s biggest party hits. His song with Lil Jon “Turn Down For What” took over radio waves and festival sets across the world in 2014, followed by “You Know You Like It” with AlunaGeorge, which went 2x platinum last year. And just recently, he was awarded a 2016 Billboard Music Award for Top Dance/Electronic Song for his collaborative track “Lean On” with Major Lazer.
Released as the second single from his upcoming debut album, his newest track “Talk” stands as another ambitious piece that is destined for radio play. Following the album’s first track “Middle” that was released earlier this year, this new piano-driven gem is a slight deviation from his typical party anthems, amply preparing us for some blissed-out, summertime vibes. DJ Snake builds an attractive tropical framework with light percussion and breezy marimbas, while George Maple’s captivating vocals sit at the forefront.

King’s “Stand By Me”. With another makeover of a classic, the Los Angeles producer puts his fresh house spin on the track while still keeping it something a listener can sing along to. Even though Caruso turns this into a summer house banger, Caruso truly pays respect to the original timeless piece by keeping the soulful vocals intact and an integral part of the track. Summer House | 22 year old “Tobtok” defies cancer and turns into musical sensation
Posted by jrhardy on July 14, 2015
22-year-old Tobtok aka Tobias Karlsson, is one of the latest and most exciting musical exports calling from Uppsala, Sweden. Tobtok’s influences have been wide and varied over the years, with rock and metal among his very first finds at the age of 6. Being in a band through his teens, an all-encompassing love for everything that is music filled his life. A long lasting affiliation and respect for Michael Jackson brought around his softer side, and at 17 the natural progression and discovery of old school disco. Timing is everything, and Tobtok started to see the rise in popularity of Electronic and in-particular Nu Disco. The opportunity to put the fun back into music just like the 70’s was just too hard to resist, and he set about perfecting his techniques and started to produce on a more serious level. To date, he lists Nile Rodgers as one of his biggest influences musically, although many of these influences come away from music and just through life. Having been diagnosed with cancer and told there was a 50% chance he would lose most of his hearing during treatment (he had a different operation at 7 years old to remove a cyst from his ear drum), Tobtok now grabs every opportunity with both hands.”when I heard about the side-effect of chemo affecting your nerves in the ear I got devastated. Music has always been the biggest passion in my life, and this would mean that I wouldn’t be able to work with music. During the treatment my hearing got worse pretty fast, I couldn’t produce at all basically. Now afterwards I feel really blessed, and take it as a sign that this is kind of my fate.”
Tobtok celebrated a year in remission last year with the release of his track ‘Savanna’, a track he started writing the day after his year check-up out of happiness. Savanna later went on to be signed to the Parisian label ‘Kitsune’ as part of an EP release after Tobtok’s remix of ”Years & Years –Real”. The remix took him to new levels and got him noticed by the well known French label, which was also exclusively premiered on Majestic Casual. The EP was supported by a host of online channels, including Indie Shuffle, The Vibe Guide, Dancing Astronaut and more. Tobtok signed to Christian Tattersfield label ‘Good Soldier Records’ and ‘Good Soldier Publishing’in 2014, joining artists such as The 1975, Birdy and Oliver Nelson.
His First release on the label was “Higher” which featured vocals from Emil Hero from the Swedish Indie-Export “Urban Cone”Higher was supported with 8x BBC Radio 1 plays and made ”hype track of the week” by Zane Lowe with additional plays from Pete Tong, An Nightingale and Phil Taggart. A wealth of online support was also provided and Higher hit No. 1 in Hype Machine.During 2014 he got the job of remixing some of the best artists of the year, including The Magician’s hit Sunlight ft. Years & Years, Zak Waters, Lemaitre, Charlie Winston, Blonde, Icona Pop and Ella Henderson.2014 ends perfectly with DJ Mag calling him‘Man of the moment’. In January 2015 Tobtok signed to one of the biggest DJ agencys in the world, ‘Connected Artists’, alongside heavyweight names such as Avicii, Alesso, Sebastian Ingrosso, Axwell, Otto Knows and more. Tobtok is already confirmed for festivals such as ‘Creamfields’ –the UK’s largest electronic dance festival as well as a London date in June with Kitsune at The Laundry. Tobtok has also seen recent support from YouTube channel Majestic Casual (2.2 million subs) and This Song Is Sick (Blog/Soundcloud with over 600,000 followers) with his remix of Hard RockSofa & Skidkha –Arms Around Me. In less than 7 days the track has accumulated over 200,000 plays across both platforms. Tobtok is now working on his second track for Good Soldierdue for release in spring 2015 which is a collaboration with singer/songwriter Alex Mills.
Show Tobtok some love and check out his most recent track “Shelter.”
