Apashe and Snails relationship goes back further than this remix. Both artists have been on the Kannibalen Records roster since it’s beginnings, and now they teamed up for something for the OWSLA crew. Last year, Snails and HeRobust dropped “Pump This” and took the world by storm. This year, remixes have been commissioned, with Apashe being one of the cat’s who had a stab at it. Black Tiger Sex Machine, the masterminds behind Kannibalen Records, are premiering their tenth Futuristic Thriller mix with the FNT crew right here. For those of you who don’t know about their mix series, the Canadian trio put together a mix like normal, but integrate movie snippets for something truly special. This time around, they bring Mad Max into the mix for a thunderous forty-five minute long barrage of high-octane records ranging from the BTSM catalog, to fellow Kannibalen releases from Apashe, Lektrique and Haezer. Remix competitions have always been a fun way to push producers to throw their own unique spin on a track, and help unearth hidden talent, and deadmau5 and Beatport did just that. The outspoken, mau5trap head honcho and Beatport teamed up to host a remix competition for Dillon Francis’ electro-influenced moombah remix of “Some Chords,” and Andrei Stephen delivered a gem. The Toronto-native was able to separate himself from the other entrants with his unique remix that could only be described as fusion between electro and future house. Stephen keeps the iconic chord progressions of the original, while weaving together big, booming bass lines with glitchy synth stabs and a heavy-hitting electro backbone to deliver a stunning product.
