Justin Jay’s Fantastic Voyage tour is shaping up to be an exciting and unique endeavor that’s just another step on his path to realizing his full potential as an artist. The tour is inspired by house parties that Justin threw himself over the past few months, and an old funk classic of the same name that encapsulates what it’s all about. With the inaugural Fantastic Voyage setting sail next week and final preparations in motion, Justin gives us a taste of what to expect with his latest mix that chock-full of everything from disco to techno, all of which are tested and proven house party jams. “Over the past couple of months, I started throwing a bunch of house parties in LA. House parties are really special for DJ’s because we can play songs we normally never get to play: from the tracks that are too weird and quirky for the big clubs/festivals, to the songs that are too cheesy and feel good for the cool-kid warehouse shindigs.
I like pushing myself to play crazy forward thinking music, but by the end of the night, I also want everyone (including myself) smiling, laughing and having a good time. Sometimes the songs that make me smile the biggest are also cool in their own cheesy way.
