Progressive House | Syn Cole – April
Posted by Middy on February 4, 2013
Estonian producer Rene Pais, now known as Syn Cole or in the trance world as DNS Project, having ditched his Clashback moniker, is set to make his single debut on Avicii’s LE7ELS imprint with his track “April”. As one of our 13 to watch in 2013, Syn Cole combines gritty, complex electro, a quick alternating bass line, with strong synth play and pitch lead. The progressive mix takes a little of the edge off with a stripped back second drop for those of you who want a little more of an uplifting sound. Having already shown his prowess on the remix front and trance fans are already quite familiar with the DNS Project name, having played ASOT 550 in addition to numerous releases on Armada, Coldharbour etc, it should be no surprise that the quality will be there from the get go, as we see with “April”.

Hip-Hop, Pop | Leaf – Naked & Wasted [Mixtape]
Posted by Jess on January 27, 2013

Introducing Leaf, an extremely talented artist who is one to watch in 2013. The 17-year-old New York native just dropped her debut mixtape entitled Naked & Wasted in which she raps and sings over a selection of Electronic, Trap and Pop productions. She even goes in over Carnage’s incredible remix of “Spaceman”. Some of my favorite tracks off the tape include “Running”, “Spaceman”, “Lie To Me” , “Can’t Say No” and “Wreckless”. Read what she had to say about it and stream/download it below.
“Naked & Wasted stands for Naked Emotions & Wasted Youth. The title is a mock at society and the culture of my generation at the moment. Everyone follows the same trends, music is only taken at face value (& made to sell) and if you don’t break it down for the listener they’ll never take advantage and look deeper then they should. Naked & Wasted is a compilation of electronic music, trap beats and R&B/Pop vocals. Melodies and lyrics written completely by myself it is truly an open diary of my life, how I feel and how I’m sure many others do as well. The mixtape embraces the typical struggle of any human being dwelling on this earth. Though it may dabbles in pop melodies & synthesized beats it is not just another party anthem.” – Leaf

Progressive House | tyDi & Maison & Dragen ft. Toni Nielson – Walk On Water
Posted by Middy on January 22, 2013
The track originally started out as just tyDi & Toni Neilson working together in an NYC studio, but thankfully Finnish duo Maison & Dragen were added to the mix and added the energy and big room intensity it needed. The track wastes no time getting to the chase with a powerful opening that slowly tails off into a smooth piano build, letting Toni Nielson’s magnificent vocals shine, ushering in an anthemic, driving synth laden drop. Of the packed music Monday we had yesterday, this may be the gem of them all. Watch out for Maison & Dragen this year, they will be making some noise. “Walk On Water” is part of tyDi’s “When I Go” EP that features 4 originals and an outstanding remix from Arnej.

They have done it again. W&W team up with Ummet Ozcan, known for his massive recent single “The Box” for yet another colossal track set to take over the the dance music landscape. “The Code” stays true to their sound of thunderous bass lines and booming synth leads. With “Lift Off” still a staple of most sets, W&W continue to crank out quality track after quality track. “The Code” will be out February 6th on Hardwell’s Revealed Recordings. Watch POP NYE go off when W&W dropped “The Code” here.
Hip-Hop, Videos | G-Eazy ft. Carnage – LOADED [Official Music Video]
Posted by LoffyG on January 16, 2013
Earlier today G-Eazy let loose the visuals for his collaboration with rapper/producer Dj Carnage, and I must say this is nothing less than a banger! It was originally featured as a bonus track on G-Eazy’s recent mixtape release “Must Be Nice“, as well as Dj Carnage’s project “Stoop Kid”, which featured an extra verse from Carnage. This definitely serves as a track that you’d play at high volume while partying with some alcohol induced lady friends to get things jumpin’. It has a very similar vibe to Mike Stud’s collaboration with Dj Carnage on “Athlete” so if you like this take a listen to that as well. Watch the booty filled video and grab the free mp3 below!
Dubstep | Anita Ward – Ring My Bell (Kill Paris Remix)
Posted by Spice on January 15, 2013
Anita Ward’s disco mainstay gets a funky, unexpected facelift in Kill Paris’s latest remix. The young producer’s bass-heavy treatment of this 70s classic works way better than you’d expect — he expertly retools the vocals in a way that vibes perfectly with the updated sound of the remix. Kill Paris is another one to watch in 2013 — check out his Soundcloud for loads more free downloads if this is the first you’re hearing of him.
