Events | Flume Announces North American Fall Tour
Posted by Middy on June 11, 2013
We have given you a small taste of what Flume has to offer the past few days and if you have not gotten his album go and do so immediately. Flume has already taken Australia by storm with his Infinity Prism Tour and now looks to expand his horizons beyond the Aussie coasts.
He will be in Europe this summer for a substantial tour, but this fall he will be arriving stateside a 17 date tour, spanning from San Francisco and Vancouver, to Toronto and New York in August and September. Technically the tour is at the end of Summer, but in dance music seasons, it is the fall. Expect the tickets to fly off the shelf with the growing popularity of Flume, so be ready when they do go on sale.
House | Porter Robinson & Mat Zo – Easy (Remixes)
Posted by Middy on May 7, 2013
It was not only an eventful past few weeks for Mat Zo because of the release of the “Easy” remixes, deleting his twitter account, and also the widely publicized battering and stealing done to “Rebound” done by will.i.am and Chris Brown. He was known for not being afraid to speak his mind and saying controversial things, a welcome relief from the “OMG LAST NIGHT WAS AWESOME GUYS” tweets that riddle your newsfeed when you follow DJs, so he will be missed. The original has become an early year anthem and will stand the test of time as one of the great tracks from the two rising superstars. While the original will remain a favorite of mine for a very long time, the remixes assembled by Anjunabeats and Ministry of Sound are outstanding, calling on a wide variety of styles, from the drum n bass veteran Andy C, to the grungy electro remix of Botnek, and the smooth, techy “Bright as Day” remix from Modek. The last remix comes from Frenchman Lemaitre, a name that we have criminally neglected here at FNT (I am sorry), as his funky, french touch gives the track a whole new refreshing sound. Check both of them out on tour in North America at the following dates after the jump.
Trap, Videos | Keys N Krates – Treat Me Right
Posted by mimada on May 3, 2013
I first stumbled upon Keys N Krates at a showcase during SXSW a few months back. As soon as this Toronto-based trio hit the stage that night, I was captivated by their dynamic. These guys have a certain sound and stage presence that’s hard for me to describe, but looking around the room I started to notice that everyone else had the same blank stare on their faces, which soon turned into a unified head nod to the beat. Their sound was so fresh and flow so seamless that before we knew it, the set was over and the crowd rushed the stage begging for more. It was a small crowd, but one of the most enthusiastic, I remember that.
Anyways, this track was one of the most memorable and it’s hard not to catch yourself bouncing along it. I love the thematic transition in tune with the song, along with how in the end, the femme-fatale turned deviant heroine prevails, muahaha!
Smacks these guys right in the middle of your radar, stat.

Hip-Hop, Videos | No Trace – 5AM in Toronto (Remix)
Posted by J_Salzer on April 28, 2013
I know what most of you are thinking. You’re angry at me for posting a remix to 5AM in Toronto, it’s like three weeks late, I get it. But, this is my first exposure to No Trace’s music and I was shocked. When I got a message from a 16 year old, yes, I said 16 year old, on Facebook, I was expecting the worst. What I got though, was the opposite. Now, you can’t be comparing these guys to Drake, Chance, Cole, etc., yet. They’re 16. They have mad potential and the song is dope. Check it out above and be on the lookout for more from these two, Fresh New Tracks will be tracking their progress closely.
Progressive House | Dzeko & Torres vs Crossways – Togi
Posted by Middy on March 18, 2013
Coming off the release of “AMP” & their “Bounced” remix, Dzeko & Torres tab fellow Toronto duo Crossways to create “Togi”, out now on Monstercat Recordings who is coming off of the successful release and still highly charted “Heartbeat” from Vicetone & Collin McLoughlin. Using a vocal sample from Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant song” and a driving, minimal percussive drop, “Togi” sets itself up as a perfect weapon for any one of their WMC gigs. I have no idea what is going on with this video, but it is entertaining nonetheless.

Hip-Hop | Drake – 5AM In Toronto (prod. by Boi-1da)
Posted by W8 on March 7, 2013
Allow me to preface this post by saying, everybody is entitled to their own opinion as am I. Drake goes viral regardless of any blog so why not take this opportunity to share my thoughts. As the clock strikes 5AM here in Toronto, I don’t like this track. ”5AM In Toronto” bleeds pints of emotion, it’s got mad lyricism, and I get all that. I’m not even saying that I have something opposed to what we have here. I just don’t feel like I know what’s good anymore, and to be perfectly honest; I don’t think you do either. Everyone is starving for nutriance, and these organic vocal dosages give us life. Staring through the mirror into an artist’s life makes us feel like we have a friend, and because of this I’m usually sufficing thoughts like ‘Who is this guy talking to‘. We like hearing voices, and if that sounds crazy, well… yes it is. Anyways, I think this is what we’ve all been waiting for so allow me to contradict myself, my name is W8!
Late last night Young Money’s own Drake followed up his earlier smash hit ”Started From The Bottom” with more heat entitled ”5AM In Toronto”. The way Drake manages to feature on his own track is remarkable. His third studio album is presumably set to drop this summer.
