Progressive House | Dannic – Ignite
Posted by Middy on July 4, 2013
While it can be a bit disheartening to see artists copy themselves pretty severely, like Firebeatz did with “Gangsta” after “Dear New York”, or Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike have done with “Chattahoochee” after “Wakanda”, it is understandable to see them attach themselves to a distinguishing style they have come up for themselves. “Ignite” could be put in that category, but has enough unique characteristics to be seen as a different track. As a follow-up on Toolroom Records, “Ignite” builds on much of the same formula as his previous single “Clobber“, that remains a mainstay of many sets around the world. Keeping the unmistakable groove and funk that is found in “Clobber”, Dannic switches up the bridge and adds a subtle, tougher sound to its distinguishing features. “Clobber” may still remain the favorite of many DJs, but “Ignite” will be a great update as the Northern Hemisphere festival season comes into full swing.

House | Nicky Romero, Nilson & John Christian – Still The Same Man
Posted by Middy on February 4, 2013
Nicky Romero takes a big 180 with this production (in a good way) and goes to his pre-Toulouse sound, before the revolution he started with massive presets to tracks like “Camorra” and adds a groove we have not heard in quite some time in his tracks. Nicky Romero gets funky with fellow Dutchman Nilson & John Christian on “Still The Same Man” with this modern reinterpretation of the 2006 track “Same Man” from Till West & DJ Delicious. In his debut on Toolroom Records, Nicky Romero shows his versatility as producer with the strong tech and disco influences of the original, adding deft key play to this 2013 rendition of “Still The Same Man” that is sure to invigorate any dance floor.

House | Andre Sobota – Saviour EP
Posted by Middy on December 18, 2012
One half Brazilian DNB duo, Marky & Bungle, Andre Sobota leaves behind that fast paced history and settles in for a release that follows the same style as what we saw from him on his Pryda Friends debut “Voyager EP“. The two tracks bask in warm glow of soothing melodies and blissful pads with the title track “Savior” adding an emotive top line to bring out to the soulful flavors of the track. These are songs that will transport you to a warmer place and get you thinking of the warmer months of the year.

Progressive House | EDX – Touched
Posted by Middy on October 23, 2012
EDX has a knack for finding an elusive middle ground between chill progressive records and anthemic festival tracks. With “Touched” he has done just that as this track sounds like it was transported straight from a Croatian beach in 2008 with its blissful melodies, atmospheric synths, and well-oiled bass lines. It is the ideal blend of a smooth progressive track with the right amount of energy to carry it all the way to end. Perfect for the late night.
