Progressive House | John Dahlback – Rebels

Posted by on May 5, 2012

The above John Dahlback was released a little while ago and grows on me every time I play it. It has an old school 90s house feel to it with a modern twist, definitely a song perfect for long, sunny summer days. Get it on Beatport HERE.
John Dahlback gives us “Rebels” for free via his Facebook page and it is a quality production. With a steady bass line, stabbing grungy synths, progressive melodies with well timed stutters. Do no miss this freebee from the criminally under-rated Swede John Dahlback.

Also included are the new remixes of John Dalhback’s track with Andy P “You’re In My Heart”. They provide a more progressive, uplifting feel to the remixes with added synths and more of a melodic feel. The second remix brings a little more energy and power to the plate.

Progressive House | Bjornberg – Libella

Posted by on February 13, 2012

The young Swedish Producer Bjornberg is back with another smashing single on Zouk Recordings. “Libella” is another exmaple of his happy, uplifting style that has become popular with many Djs around the world as well as adding a different feel to the song with a slightly funky melody composed of a well crafted electro and progressive synths and a pounding bass line. This 17 year old producer is someone you will want to keep an eye on this year with a track record of creating great tracks and an incredibly bright future ahead of him.

Progressive House | Otto Knows – Million Voices

Posted by on February 8, 2012

The young up and coming Swede, my number one guy to watch out for in 2012, Otto Knows has finally released his much anticipated single “Million Voices” after many months of playing it out. A song that has been championed by Sebastion Ingrosso and many other big name Djs, it has all the makings of an early year anthem, so expect this one to be a staple of the first half of this year perhaps all of 2012. The name “Million Voices” derives from the vocal sample that Otto Knows used with a whole bunch of kids shouting and singing that works in perfect harmony with the rest of the song. The bass line flows perfectly with the vocals sample, while the various pitched synths create a euphoric feeling in this song that only grows on you. Link taken down, so get this amazing track on Beatport.

Dubstep, Review | Teknian Firedance EP

Posted by on February 7, 2012

Teknian, the 17-year old prodigy out of Sweden signed to Screwloose Records, dropped this amazing musical masterpiece EP entitled Firedance yesterday. After going through each track multiple times I came to the conclusion that Teknian’s style can be said to be a fusion between KOAN Sound and Culprate. As you will soon hear, Teknian doesn’t just slap together a melody and some bass and call it a track. Each track is intricately created to the detail. Take Urban Grounds for example, besides the fact that the drop is out of this world he also creates a unique blend of instruments in the introduction that bring a feeling of tranquillity to the listener, then he just turns their world upside down after the drop. Not limiting himself to one genre either on this EP, he provides some drum and bass and a new interpretation on house music. Amazing stuff coming from this producer and a very promising future ahead of him if he keeps unleashing musical masterpieces like these. Make sure to listen to all the tracks and don’t miss out on grabbing this EP. Get it on Beatport HERE.

Electro, Interviews | Twibak: On The Rise

Posted by on November 14, 2011

Coming from across the pond in Sweden, Twibak is set to carve out his unique path in the world of house music. Here is a brief interview with Twibak:

With so many genres to choose from, why electronic music?

I first was introduced to electronic music when I went off to study at university. I found Armin van Buuren’s ASOT and that helped me concentrate on studying. As time went on, I became more passionate about music.

The future looks bright for you, what do you envision?

Right now, the goal is to create remixes for other more established artists, and later release records under my own name. I’ve got a lot of passion for music. It’s more than just a hobby for me, so if I can continue making music, I’ll be happy to do so.

Earlier this year american magazine Joonbug gave Twibak and Avicii a shared first prize in a list of artists likely to watch out for.

”This will be Avicii’s other half, because this artist does not even have a track up on Beatport, but his recent mix of friend Martin Lundblad’s ID has exploded to popularity on internet blogs. Mainly progressive, Twibak’s catchy, swooning build ups are broken by a nicely harmonized electro bit, the kind popularized by Bob Sinclair, Dirty South, and David Guetta. Twibak is someone to watch for 2011, particularly with the number of superstar DJs coming out of Sweden.”

Twibak says he is inspired and appreciative of the recognition, and now works even harder thanks to it. The track below is a symbol of his talent and makes you ponder what his future may hold. I predict big things from this guy – you now know. (Martysounds also deserves credit on this track as well.)
