Electro-House | Hard Rock Sofa, Matisse & Sadko, Swanky Tunes – Chemistry (Turn The Flame Higher)

Posted by on November 5, 2012

Yes you read that right, Hard Rock Sofa, Matisse & Sadko AND Swanky Tunes have all combined to make a track. That is 7 producers for one track. All that is left is to add Arty to the mix and we have a real party. I wonder who had a big enough studio / enough vodka for all of the them… Anyway, the track combines the big room tendencies of Matisse & Sadko with the grungy electro dispositions that we have seen in recent tracks from Hard Rock Sofa & Swanky Tunes — all balanced with a quick alternating bass line.

Progressive House, Videos | Norman Doray & NERVO ft. Cookie – Something To Believe In

Posted by on September 24, 2012

Nervo follow up their single alongside fellow countryman, Hook N Sling “Reason” , with their latest collaborative effort, “Something To Believe In” tagging Norman Doray to aid in the production, while Cooke provides the soulful vocals that round out this track. The video, filmed during their show in NYC this past June, takes us from the West 4th Street Basketball Courts to Neptune Beach Club out in the Hamptons and then back into NYC with their show at Pacha that night. The track finds a way to keep the overused dance piano sound fresh with the help of Cookie’s addicitive soulful vocals and prominent arp that helps carry the melody.

Electro-House | Firebeatz & Schella – Dear New York

Posted by on September 10, 2012

Firebeatz and Schella team up to bring us what was possibly the anthem of Electric Zoo this past Labor Day “Dear New York” as their ode to the Big Apple. Firebeatz have had a very busy 2012 cranking out remixes and originals and with this heavily supported track, they cap off the summer season with a bang. Sampling the Beastie Boys, a task not to be done lightly, Firebeatz & Schella bring out a varying bass line sure to get you moving with a matching chord progression that crescendoes into a drop of grinding saws, not unlike “Metropolis” that furnishes an edge and energy to give the track traction well into the fall.

DO SOMETHING

Electro-House | Swanky Tunes – Blood Rush

Posted by on September 4, 2012

As the first release on their own label “Showland”, like their successful radio show, Swanky Tunes have decided to use this inaugural milestone to reveal the hard hitting acid infused “Blood Rush”. The veteran Russian trio utilizes the usually obnoxious horn sound well with a slowed down interlude with a varied bass line that creates a great anticipation for the big drop of electro saws and a thumping bass line. Swanky Tunes have really emerged as one of the premier house assets in the world with each release becoming staples in sets of the world’s top DJs.

Electro-House | John Dahlback – Zeus

Posted by on September 4, 2012

The perpetually underrated John Dahlback continues his prolific 2012 with yet another single, “Zeus” an appropriate ode to the god of gods. This acid infused tune combines crunchy synths, a driving bass line, and purposeful chords to create this beast of track. A big, heavily supported track expected to heard in many sets as we start to move indoors (unfortunately) that raises the bar for the upcoming releases still in store for the rest of the year.

Progressive House | Nervo vs. Hook N Sling – Reason

Posted by on August 27, 2012

Following his successful remix of “We’re all No One”, Hook N Sling had made a name for himself with the Nervo sisters and the collab was born. Though there was a two week delay due to promotion reasons, we now finally have “Reason” from the Nervo twins teaming up with Anthony Maniscalco or Hook N Sling. They put together this heavenly track with Liv & Mim on vocals, pitched synths, quick snare, and joyful melodies. Hook N Sling & Nervo have been making a name for themselves lately and “Reason” will only continue their upward trend towards steady success.

Electro-House | Basto – BONNY

Posted by on August 25, 2012

Basto has been known for his piano house tracks for much of his career and that idea was turned on its head with his track “Rave You” that went the total opposite direction with an very intense grungy drop that was a little too much. “Bonny” is a bit more of a refined product from Basto as he still uses the grungy massive pack, much in the same manner as Tom Fall does with thumping bass and driving synth chords. As the drop comes in with the words “Fire” as if to shoot it out of a gun, be ready for the madness Basto has brought to the table with his “Bonny”.
