LA based producer Summer School has only three productions to his name, but has already shown quite a variety with his sound. Going from deep house to aggressive electro and now this super proggy tune, he already has shown he can do it all. This type of stuff is right up my ally and hits me right in the Prydzian feels, so don’t miss out with its wonderful groove and its polished melody. This is some nice real prog right hurr, so make sure you are grabbing this

Girl Fire | Oliver Heldens f. KStewart- Last All Night (Koala)

Oliver-Heldens-Koala-Last-All-Night-2014-1200x1200
We’ve made our feelings pretty well known to the blogosphere about Oliver Helden’s original “Koala” track that dropped a few months ago. To say we didn’t like it would be putting it nicely. Premiered on Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio 1 show last night, Oliver offers up the vocal version titled “Last All Night” with KStewart via FFRR. KStewart’s vocal contribution is notable, adding some much needed depth and variation to the track. I still think the drop is suspiciously similar to “Gecko” and I’m not going to back down from that criticism. Many of our counterparts in the blog world agree. Oliver may sound like Charlie Brown’s teacher, but he makes damn good tunes and you have to respect him for the shift in the “EDM” space he’s creating. Here’s to hoping Oliver finds a new synth to incorporate into his future house sound. If you’re into this, be sure to pick up the pre-order available below.

With an “EDM” landscape full of similar sound acts, Galantis is a welcome breathe of fresh air. Despite their branded over-night success, they’re anything but, crafting hits well before “EDM” was a thing and you were still in high school dating cheerleaders. Last night, Galantis premiered their “Runaway (U & I) single on #BetaBPM (to much fanfare) set to release October 5th. The offering serves as the first single to their forthcoming album with no release date at the moment. Release date or not, Galantis is the next big thing in the electronic dance music space. Grab Galantis’s self-titled EP here. Seafox out.

Gorgon City. What can I say that hasn’t already been said about them? This new offering is atmoshperic, sexy, and most importantly that UK garage sound that we love here. Jessie Ware’s “Say You Love” me single is out on September 28th, which is only a few days away. Pick it up here. Great tune!

Sander Van Doorn & Oliver Heldens - THIS

Fans of these two have been waiting quite some time for this one. It seems like everyone wants a piece of the Oliver Heldens brand of “future house” and he is eager to dish it out, with very little changed. It is one thing to find a signature sound, which is incredibly difficult to do unto itself, but to be able to evolve within that and expand creatively is one of the marks of a great producer. “THIS” sounds an awful like “Gecko” and you can hear some influence of Sander van Doorn, but not much. The tune comes out October 6th and will probably be another Beatport chart topping hit.

Electronic | Dirty South – With You + Tunnel Vision

dirty south with you

With his album coming out on November 4th, Dirty South has previewed two more tunes from the album, in addition to “Unbreakable” last month. There aren’t any drops on these tracks, especially “With You” that has more of an orchestral sound to it, with a slow, progressing arrangement as soft male vocals compliment the strings and steady chords. “Tunnel Vision” is much darker than what we have heard from Dirty South in many years with brooding, rolling synth chords and the haunting vocals of SomeKindaWonderful.

Both tunes feature bands on the ATM band roster, which Dirty South is a part of with his duo Ruben Haze, so it is no surprise to see them on these tracks and also nice to see him turn to bands for features. It is just another step in the new direction of Dirty South’s music. You can get “Tunnel Vision” now if you are in the US, so head to iTunes to grab it.

Electro-House, Progressive House | Draper – Perspectives EP

Draper - Perspectives EP
Monstercat has been great at supporting up and coming acts right when they are getting noticed. For that reason I have found some releases to sound a little unpolished, but you have to take a step back and look at the overall talent of these kids. One release that sounds polished and arising from UK producer, Draper. The opening track “Coloured Glass” was previewed last week and has taken off across the internet, but now we are able to hear the rest of the EP. My two favorites are the bookending tunes that have totally different tones, with the energetic melodies in “Coloured Glass” and the soothing pads of “With You”. Grab the EP on iTunes and Beatport now!
