Hip-Hop, Review | Grubeats’ Top 12 of ’12

Posted by on January 14, 2013

Grubeats; fashionably tardy as always.  I can’t promise I’ve saved the best for last, but hopefully this eclectic mix of tracks tickle’s at least party of your fancy.  I’d enjoy hearing from you in the comments section if you have opinions on any of these songs!

12.) Skizzy Mars – Sirens

This young star didn’t sound my radar until late spring of ’12.  I had heard the name and few scattered verses, but overlooked the true talent Skizzy Mars was bringing to the table until I first heard “Sirens”.  With sounds similar to a young Cudi, Skizzy himself only recently graduated high school and has only begun to lie the brick and mortar for long, prosperous career.

11.) Skrillex & Damian Marley – Make It Bun Dem

As you probably know, I’m not a die heard EDM head like many writers and followers of this site.  No kandi for this kid.  I do however, enjoy just about anything Skrillex lays his hands on.  Couple the addictive production with Damian Marley’s rasta raps and you have pure gold.  If and when hip-hop and EDM cross paths, this is the type of execution I expect. Hip-Hop | ProbCause – Three Course Meal (Ft. Action Bronson)

Posted by on December 11, 2012

We’ve featured MC Probacause on the site before, but now you’re definitely going to want to pay him more attention. Enlisting phenomenal features from two FNT favorites, Chef Bronson and Chance The Rapper, Prob outshines them both displaying his promising skills. The track will be featured on his upcoming project The Recipe vol. 2. Make sure to look back for that project, but in the mean time get yourself acquainted with ProbCause and his music.

Drum & Bass, Dubstep, Preview | Two Fingers – Vengeance Rhythm (KOAN Sound Remix)

Posted by on November 5, 2012

This was a little difficult to categorize on the site because this is Neurofunk, which is technically a subgenre of Drum & Bass…semantics. Two Fingers was originally a duo made up of Doubleclick and EDMs most influential artist, Amon Tobin, but now is just a solo alter ego of Amon Tobin. KOAN Sound is very lucky to have been chosen by the legend to do a remix for his last album that released, “Stunt Rhythms.” Just as expected, KOAN Sound did a killer job on this remix, it is releasing December 10th on Big Dada.

Dubstep, Electro-House, Review | Zeds Dead & Omar LinX – The Living Dead EP

Posted by on July 25, 2012

Redbull posted up a preview only premiere yesterday on their site for this insane EP and the feed back has been immense. Zeds Dead has again teamed up with Toronto’s master lyricist Omar LinX to dish out another knockout blow to our eardrums. If what we have been hearing from these three isn’t enough proof that they should become an official trio, I don’t know what is.

“Crank” kicks off this EP with Zeds Dead’s notorious bass-crunch. Omar LinX opens up the track by putting the mic on its knees, the spitting coming from him alone. Zeds Dead takes the rest from there finishing strong, but just getting started. The next track, “Take A Chance,” is another crunchy Dubstep track. Again Omar LinX was a key factor in its perfection, while Zeds Dead created the feel Omar cooked. With great things also come disappointments here and there, that being said this EPs only disappointment in my mind was the EP’s title track, “The Living Dead.” The idea of the track is cool, but hearing it in action you can tell it is lacking in any form of excitement. Though the title track was not anything special, the last track of the EP is undoubtedly one of Zeds Dead’s and Omar LinX’s best works. Omar does his thing, expressing his emotional flow flawlessly over the calmed beats of the track. Zeds Dead gives us a drop style we are not use to hearing from them, as if we are supposed to be Crunkstepping in the lights of Swag. With the one exception in this EP, it is still an amazing compilation from Zeds Dead & Omar LinX.

FYI | To Our Fans

Posted by on February 16, 2012

As many of you have started to notice, a few changes have been made with how things are done on FNT. The days of file-sharing and piracy are numbered I am sad to say. Mediafire, Hulkshare, Zippyshare, and many others are starting to be more pressured to comply with the RIAA. Which means FNT and many other site’s uploads are being taken down before you are even given the chance to listen. FreshNewTracks is not the only site to be affected, all of us are taking this hit hard and things have gotten to the point where there is no other choice, but to take a more legal approach in this business. Don’t let that bring you down though. FNT will still be able to provide tons of free downloads daily, I can promise that.

When it comes to posting tracks you have to purchase, I know exactly what you’re thinking, “Why don’t I just visit iTunes and Beatport instead?” For one thing we provide a personal experience that they cannot match. Second, do you really want to waste all your time filtering through tons of crap releases only to find one track you really like? The choice is yours whether or not you want to continue following us. I can confidently say that all of us will continue to put full effort into FreshNewTracks and keep it running strong. We believe in a bright future in music and plan to see it through til the end.

Dark Days, Bright Nights. The Sun sets on FNT when we say it does.

Much love and fresh beats,
