Progressive House | SHM + Laidback Luke – Leave The World Behind (Outmode Bootleg)
Posted by Middy on June 1, 2014
Promising young Gotherberg duo, Outmode have released their remix of the quintessential late 2000’s prog tune LTWB. A robust and bouncy remix, Outmode add their own unique spin on the tune that takes a more groove oriented approach, while still much of the original genius shine through. Similar “Freak Me Out”, their latest single which was championed by Kryder, they draw from their “quality house” sound, adding very promising Swedish faces to the genre their country helped pioneer.
Despite being only 19 years of age, they show maturity in their productions beyond their years and a diversity in sound that is rare for producers their age. It’s not a matter of if, but when these guys break out on the international stage. Now is the time to say you were there when it all began.
Preview, Progressive House | John Martin – Anywhere For You [preview]
Posted by Mel on February 12, 2014
Made famous by Swedish House Mafia, John Martin got notoriety for a reason and that’s because he has an incredible voice. His first solo work since doing the vocals for the two SHM songs and the “Reload” edit is here and it’s a good one. “Anywhere For You”, superbly produced by Michel Zitron, is a crossover progressive house and pop song that is ever so popular these days. This is in no way a unique song but it is done extremely well and that sets it apart from the many similar to it. Martin’s vocals with Zitron’s stand out production is just too good to pass up. Sadly, the release is not until April 7th so we’ll have to wait a bit to get our hands on it. Also, a guy and a girl kiss in the video so if you’re into that sort of thing I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. It actually takes place at 3:10 so pause it and enjoy.
Progressive House | The Fray – How To Save A Life (Kian Sang Bootleg)

Let’s just say, for instance, you are a 15 year old girl. Naturally, there will be a few things you enjoy very much: The Biebs, obviously, wearing leggings even though you clearly don’t yet have the body for it (soon though, soon), thinking you have a shot with older guys and asking them to drive you places and, most importantly, you are a fan of the long dismantled SHM (though you can’t name any of the individual members), Zedd (yet you suspiciously only know one song of his), and Avicii. Kian Sang, not a name a 15 year old girl would know but he was actually one of the official collaborators in Avicii’s masterpiece “X You”. His melody was chosen and can be seen at the 1:40 mark of the video. He has also remixed The Fray’s “How To Save A Life” magnificently. I was just 11 when the original came out and therefore only vaguely remember it. Though I feel as though if you do remember it, even if you didn’t enjoy it, that you will enjoy this version. This remix has made it into my ultra exclusive iTunes library so that should tell you how good this is.

Progressive House | Axwell – Center Of The Universe
Posted by Middy on June 10, 2013
Lord oh Lord, finally Axwell. First revealed to the public in 2009, we at last have the original mix of Axwell’s monster track “Center Of The Universe”. He has been a busy man post, SHM, releasing a downtempo remix for Discopolis’ “Falling (Committed To Sparkle Motion)”, the Beatport number one remode of “Center Of The Universe”, his collaboration with Sebastian Ingrosso for Monsters University “Roar” and now this. It is showing that the breakup of SHM might have been a good thing after all.
You probably know the song by now, so there is no need to give you a detailed description, however it is pure blissful Axwell music that is becoming rarer and rarer in house music today, which is why we should cherish producers like Axwell who can remain to successful and consistent over a long period of time. The full extended version is not out yet, but you can grab the radio edit on iTunes below.

DJ-Set | Steve Angello Essential Mix 3/30/13
Posted by Middy on April 1, 2013
Steve Angello is currently sitting on the sunny beaches of Bora Bora sans computer, phone or any electronic devices, totally disconnected from the world as he decompresses from the 6 year whirlwind run he had with Swedish House Mafia that came to a close two Sundays ago at Ultra Music Festival. Before his vacation he took the time to drop off an essential mix into the offices of BBC’s Radio One. The mix puts in the rearview the SHM era and puts on full display the outrageous riches in the Size HQ hard drive that are just begging to be released.

Progressive House | Hard Rock Sofa – Rasputin
Posted by Middy on March 11, 2013
Making their return to Axwell’s Axtone Records, Russian duo Hard Rock Sofa dole out another hard hitting festival cut sure to make waves in Miami. “Rapsutin” is centered around a slow building churching low end with rapid fire percussion and an ominous interlude, leading into the percussive drop. “Rasputin” is the latest in the recent trend of hard hitting, minimal percussive tracks like “Wakanda“, “Hit It” and going back to “Epic”. It is interesting to see the direction Axtone has taken with their first two releases of the year and it will be something to watch throughout the rest of the year with Axwell striking it solo as the official SHM breakup looms in just 2 weeks.
