Hip-Hop | J. Cole – Behind The Scenes: Cole World (Video)
Posted by Grubeats on October 4, 2011
In my eyes J. Cole is the future of hip-hop. His grassroots style mirrors the work of some of the games greatest artists. The album encompasses J. Cole’s musical career, tying together all the ends from The Come Up, The Warm Up, Friday Night Lights and all releases preceding the album. As Jay-Z shares in this short video, he is interested in building artists, not just one hit wonders. While big Jay has been preaching to little J. for the past couple of years, Cole has been absorbing Hova’s words and applying them to his own work. Here’s a very brief look into some of the behind the scenes work that went into the album, along with a few words from Roc Nation’s CEO, Jay-Z. This is really just a tease for me because I know the countless hours of work that went into this album are poorly represented here. I might be happy with a hour or longer culmination of behind the scenes work.
“Jigga wouldn’t even take my CD when he seen me
Two years later bitch we made it on, on to the Blueprint
Now how’s that for persistence?” –J.Cole
P.S. I wanted to give you guys a full album review, but the server was giving me some issues, so if you want to talk #ColeWorld, hit me on twitter and we can chop it up.
Purchase Cole World: The Sideline Story on iTunes (I really, really, really, really, recommend doing so)
