Albums, Preview, Trance | Armin van Buuren vs Arty – Nehalennia (Preview) + A State Of Trance 2013 Tracklist
Posted by Middy on January 31, 2013
So this track came out of absolutely NO WHERE. My jaw hit the floor when I saw Armin tweet this preview and I have yet to pick it up after hearing it. This is pure unabated trance that we saw from Arty from his Alpha 9 days and sprinkled in after. Bask in the pure bliss of this track and get ready for its release on February 14th as a part of the 10 edition of A State Of Trance compilation. Speaking of said compilation, the tracklist was released today and it is monstrous. With new tracks from Armin & W&W (what?!), JOC, BT, Gaia, Heatbeat, Andrew Rayel, Omnia, Aly & Fila and many more, this will be a must have for any trance fan. Click past the break to see the full tracklist. UPDATED with a longer sample.
Trance | Rank 1 vs. M.I.K.E. – Elements of Nature
Posted by Spice on January 29, 2013
Did you listen to Above & Beyond’s Group Therapy radio show last week? If you did, you will probably remember this track from Rank 1’s amazing, dynamic guest mix. Rank 1 are titans of trance so it’s no surprise that their latest, a collaboration with fellow veteran M.I.K.E., is an absolute killer. Darkly melodic with a fast-paced and uplifting vibe, “Elements of Nature” is the kind of track that puts a fresh, 21st century spin on the genre’s more classic elements.

Progressive House, Trance | Armin van Buuren’s 2012 Yearmix
Posted by Spice on January 7, 2013
For some reason I’m only just getting to the magnificent feat of editing and mixing that is Armin van Buuren’s 2012 Yearmix. Armin spent close to a month chopping and refashioning 101 of the year’s top trance tunes into one blissful, continuous two hour mix that aired on A State of Trance at the end of December. Diehards will have already heard this in its entirety, but I’m calling your attention to it now in the event that it got lost in the holiday shuffle because it’s not something to miss. Not only does it provide an excellent and diverse cross section of the year in trance, but Armin’s unparalleled technical mastery is on display to the fullest extent (I cannot stress enough how agile, seamless, and creative his transitions are — if you have any sort of familiarity with these tracks, he’ll have you in total awe in about three minutes). Check it out below and be sure to take a look at the full track list after the jump.
Trance | Rank 1 – 7 Instead Of 8
Posted by Middy on November 1, 2012
We are getting trancey on this Thursday, first with the Andrew Rayel release and now this Rank 1 track. Rank 1 is much like Dash Berlin & Benny Benassi where there is one producer (Benno De Goeij, two in the case of Dash Berlin) who is making the tracks behind the scenes and one DJ (Piet Bervoets) who is the face of the group, though these lines can be blurred with Benno De Goeij appearing behind the decks for some shows and Piet Bervoets having his hands in productions. Benno De Goeij has been responsible for countless other collabs and co-productions with Armin, Jochen Miller etc. They rarely make singles on their own and since they set the bar so high with one of the biggest trance tracks ever in “Airwave”, having one from them is special. “7 Instead of 8” does not disappoint so get on this right away.

Trance, Videos | Trance Tuesday
Posted by Middy on February 7, 2012
As promised last week, the second part of Dash Berlin’s music video series with his two singles “Better Half Of Me” & “World Falls Apart”. This Trance Tuesday has a strong progressive house influence, but these are big name artists with Armin van Buuren, Paul van Dyk, Jochen Miller, Nitrous Oxide’s remix of Above & Beyond’s “Formula Rossa” and others all contributing massive stuff recently. There are also some more traditional trance gems as well later in the post. Armin creates this more progressive house remix of Kirsty’s “Twilight” for Zouk Records, with some amazing female vocals, a well constructed guitar lead and pulsing synth chords. Get it on BEATPORT.
The trance legend, Paul van Dyk is getting ready to release his 6th artist album “Evolution” on April 3rd and just gave out a single for free to help promote the album. It is more of a progressive house type of a track, which could show a direction of the album, but I don’t think it is just because it features Austin Leeds, who is known for his progressive house. Get the free download and preorder the Album HERE.
Paul van Dyk feat. Austin Leeds – Verano
Jochen Miller teams up with Rank 1 to create this massive track with outstanding vocals from Sarah Bettens. Smooth melodic synths and a steady bassline mark this song with the perfect accompaniment of female vocals. Get it on BEATPORT.

This song from Ummet Ozcan starts out as what you would think would be a pretty standard trance build with a few piano motifs thrown in, but at around the 3 minute mark the song changes character rather drastically and drops into an uplifting progressive tune led by piano and light synths. Get it on BEATPORT.

Nitrous Oxide puts their own spin on this amazing single from the potent trance trio, Above & Beyond. The Polish trance producer keeps much of the original structure to the song, but adds a different feel to the bassline and a little more to the melody. Get it on BEATPORT. More trance tracks after the jump.
