Greetings, Trance Family. I trust this post finds you well. While this particular family member is still reeling from a positively massive (to borrow Armin’s favorite word) few days — Jochen Miller and Armin van Buuren on Thursday; Above & Beyond on Saturday — it is now time to move past the weekend and pay homage to a sampling of the glorious releases that have dropped in the past week. And glorious they truly are.
First up is the remix package for the stunning “I’ll Listen,” a song that may seem languid and understated at first but which proves wickedly catchy upon subsequent listens. If you’ve been to any music festival with an EDM billing since Ultra, you’re probably incredibly tired of hearing Axwell’s remix of “In My Mind.” I feel you. I’m really sick of it too. Fortunately, talented newcomer Walden has managed to inject new life into this track with a bright, orchestral remix that keeps the vocals intact but alters just about everything else. He has definitely thought outside of the box here and it really shines through in those dramatic (and dramatically different) chord progressions. If you’re not up to speed on Walden, you should check out his past releases (pro tip: free downloads galore…) because this young Australian is definitely on the verge of breaking into the major leagues. Hey, when you’ve got an exclusive deal with Beatport to remix one of the biggest tracks of the year, you know you’re well on your way.

No two ways about it: today is a huge day for releases. In addition to Afrojack’s “Rock the House”, Fedde Le Grand & Nicky Romero’s epic collaboration with Matthew Koma is now officially out on Beatport. Middy has already suggested that “Sparks” will prove to be one of 2012’s anthems, and I can’t say that I disagree; with adrenaline-baiting builds and an aggressively high energy synth hook, this banger has all the necessary ingredients to become one of the defining songs of the summer. Though the vocal mix with Matthew Koma will not be available until August 6th, the instrumental mix shows just how powerful a track this is.

Steve Angello’s Size Matters imprint continues to crush the game with this latest release from AN21 (the younger Angello brother, incidentally — check out that family resemblance) & Max Vangeli. The duo’s smooth, hot weather-ready collaboration with Tiesto will be the title track on their upcoming album, which is set to drop on August 6. I’m loving the vocals and the unique flavor that the acoustic guitar sample provides — and, of course, those tight and supremely polished synths after the drop.

Dubstep | Wolfgang Gartner – Redline (Paradigm Remix)

At the beginning of May, Wolfgang Gartner treated us to his incredible Progressive House song “Redline”. Paradigm takes a dubstep take on the track, and the result is dope. Here’s another two Progressive House bangers for those who use Beatport (expensive, I know, but this where things are headed). New York FM throws down an incredible beat while Natalie Gauci lays some perfect vocals over this smooth, yet encompassing progressive beat. The Disfunktion Remix highlights the high synths and is more suited for a festival (whereas the original would be perfect for clubbing). The BEATPORT VERSION also features a radio edit of each.
