Mashups | DOSVEC – Charleston

Posted by on May 31, 2012

Newest banger from DOSVEC, this time he decided to take a different turn with the vocals of this mashup. With the release of Avicii’s celebration of 2 million Facebook likes, DOSVEC blended it with Hardwell’s ‘Sapceman,’ delivering a dance floor blow. The vocals are the icing on this delicious cake, providing a party for even your friends not familiar with either of the instrumentals.

Moombahton | Trap Stars: Baauer and Bird Peterson

Posted by on May 25, 2012

As the subject would suggest, this isn’t really moombahton; it’s trap. Did we say or did we say it? Trap-influenced dance music is about to take over as the next big urban sound and you might as well be early to the party. So without further adieu, let’s dig into these tracks.

First up we’ve got Baauer. Baauer is an up and comer out of Brooklyn with a diverse array of hip hop remixes under his belt and an obvious flair for funk. Perhaps it was therefore inevitable that he’d eventually catch Diplo’s eye. I’m digging the bouncy booty bass vibe in “Harlem Shake,” a track which has already seen major airtime on BBC Radio 1’s “Diplo and Friends” show and which seems perfectly suited to the beautiful weather we’re seeing here on the east coast (#THREEDAYWEEKEND). And how about those tropical marimba tones in “Yaow!”? Bottom line, both of these songs were built to light a fire on a packed dance floor.

Rounding it out this week is Bird Peterson, whose chill, hypnotic reboot of M83’s “Steve McQueen” brings a slightly different vibe than the two songs above. In fact, I’d go as far as to call this song haunting. This is a good one for humid, sticky summer nights in someone’s backyard.

Hip-Hop, Mashups, Mixtapes | DOSVEC – GAMUT

Posted by on May 22, 2012

DOSVEC is well known for his electronic mashups, but it is rare to see some Hip-Hop. Today we bring you DOSVEC’s Hip-Hop mashup mixtape, ‘Gamut.’ This mixtape I came to realize is perfect for just about any situation. You can kick back on a lazy Sunday with a few friends enjoying the day in the simplest ways, or you can bust it out for a party and really get down to the blend of Hip-Hop favorites from the past few decades. ‘Gamut’ really shows DOSVEC’s versatility in his mashup creations, I am excited to release these singles in the future. Fans don’t be afraid to make requests of which ones you would like to get your hands on first. To view the track-list just click the image above to enlarge.

Moombahton | The Very Best — Yoshua Aikuti (Nadastrom Remix) // Nadastrom “Moombahton Massive” EP

Posted by on May 10, 2012

Nadastrom. My dudes. Moombahton has come an incredibly long way in the past three years, but had Dave Nada not hopped on the decks at that fated house party in 2009 we wouldn’t be talking right now. We love our moombahton here at FNT, so it seems only fitting now to take a moment to check in with the genre’s originators — who have big things in store for us in 2012.

To say that Dave Nada and Will Nordstrom have been busy lately would be an understatement. Their Moombahton Massive brainchild — a wild local dance party that has blown up venues in Miami, Austin, and Chicago — has officially gone international. They just kicked off a North American tour. Their record label, Diabluma Sound, is set to launch on May 22. And on top of all of this, they’re still hard at work. They recently dropped a compilation “Moombahton Massive” EP on Scion A/V in conjunction with some well-worn names (Sabo, Steve Starks, and JWLS), which highlights the genre’s funky, sexy, global roots. The EP is free (!!) and you can preview and download it here. They also just released a feel-good yet positively haunting remix of The Very Best’s “Yoshua Aikuti,” a catchy-as-hell song we suggested could be poised for a global takeover when the video dropped back in April. Nadastrom’s treatment is subtle, chilled out, and a wonderful showcase for Esau Mwamwaya’s soaring vocals. Want to inject some new flavor into your iTunes rotation? This is just the stuff.

Progressive House | Armin Van Buuren – We Are Here To Make Some Noise

This just made my day, Armin van Buuren is a god in my eyes and in many others. A State of Trance? Well, I am definitely feeling this State of House right now. This track is huge, Armin took the party up a notch with the heat this track packs. This will help me get through the studying for my finals, and then the party them.

His first big release, Bailey Smalls drops this great dance floor Electro-House track. I love how this track is basically a giant build up, starting with simple moves then building up to a fully blown dance party. Included on the single release are some incredible remixes from The Partysquad, Aylen, Jay Fay, and Udachi.
