Videos | Kanye West – Runaway (Short Film)
Posted by Juicebox on October 24, 2010
There’s been some great debate today over this video. Some have hated it and some have loved it. Since the video is abstract, some are struggling with interpreting the film. You can click here to get a full explanation from Kanye himself. Amongst some of the themes are individuality, death, race, and pygmalion.
The main criticism has been that Kanye thinks he’s a God. I’ve got news for you, you’re right! He is an elitist. He’s like that fraternity member that you hate simply because you’re not in a fraternity. What I tend to disagree with, however, is the argument that he should stick to rapping. He may not be a genius, but he definitely has vision and is extremely creative.
This video is just another avenue for him to express his creativity through. When you tell him “he should just stick to rapping” you’re essentially putting him a box. And that my friends, just doesn’t seem fair to me.
