Monstercat has been great at supporting up and coming acts right when they are getting noticed. For that reason I have found some releases to sound a little unpolished, but you have to take a step back and look at the overall talent of these kids. One release that sounds polished and arising from UK producer, Draper. The opening track “Coloured Glass” was previewed last week and has taken off across the internet, but now we are able to hear the rest of the EP. My two favorites are the bookending tunes that have totally different tones, with the energetic melodies in “Coloured Glass” and the soothing pads of “With You”. There are few things like a great melody. These three, DubVision and Michael Brun are very adept at creating those monstrous, moving melodies that don’t sound stale next to tracks in the same genre at the time. UK singer, Thomas Havelock aka Tom Cane adds some super vocals for some great singalong moments throughout the tune. Michael Brun’s label Kid Coconut is doing quite well in its first two releases and we are excited to see what else he has to come.

Progressive House | Dirty South – Unbreakable

Though he just released an album in March of last year “Speed Of Life“, Dirty South is already prepping another full-length LP for release this fall “With You”. He has unveiled the lead single for the album “Unbreakable”, which shows the new direction of the LA based producer / DJ. A bit different from the Dirty South we are used to with his big storming melodies, the Serbian born producer leans more on instrumentation and vocals from Sam Martin to create an actual song in “Unbreakable”. The album is set for release November 4th, so mark your calendars and pre-order it now on iTunes here.

Progressive House | Lush & Simon Feat. Delaney Jane – In My Hands

It was only a matter of time before these guys got big. With releases now on Revealed, Protocol, Armada, and now Doorn, the Italian duo continue to show signs of growth and improvement with each passing release. “Hunter” saw them integrate some more percussion based builds, while still returning to their strong suit in melodies. The duo have overcome a change in personnel with Simon being exchanged for another Simon and they have not skipped a beat, giving us the vintage driving melodic sound we know from Lush & Simon here with “In My Hands”.
Electronic | Grant Bowtie – Cloud Nine

Grant Bowtie dropped this joyful single out on Monstercat today called “Cloud Nine”. This electronic track has a full sound with a mix of high and low melodies. The bass compliments the higher synths and overall the track sounds nostalgic and fun. Grant Bowtie is from San Diego, and still just in high school. It’s amazing how talented he is for his age, and just in general! He says he’s still searching for his own sound… let’s hope he goes with this one!

Sticky Fingers may be Above & Beyond’s best single since “Sun & Moon”. The original is just that good. The trio are still show stopping with their mind bending Acoustic album. In addition to the Pierce Fulton remix that just released and the Lane 8 effort that came out with the single, we have a freebee from NYC pairing Peter Brennan & TCUP. Peter Brennan & TCUP add a gritty sound to the tune, with some shaking bass to contrast the soothing melodies from A&B. Grab this one for free at the link below.

Progressive House | Steerner & Martell – Sky

When Usher and Young Jeezy joined forces in early 2008 to make the hit hip-hop classic, “Love In This Club”, the world was blown away. The melodic components of that song were what really had us hooked, similar to how the well known Steerner and the lesser known Martell hook us with their music. Martell is not as household a name as his fellow Swedish collaborator Steerner is, but if you have been following us for a little while and needed any more proof as to why FNT is one of the top 200ish music blogs in the U.S. and parts of southern Canada, we had been covering Martell for some time now, so you should be familiar. Big melodies and powerful drops are what these guys are known for and that is what this song consists of.
