Events | Electric Zoo 2012 Afterparties
Posted by Middy on August 13, 2012
News of the Electric Zoo afterparties has slowly been coming out in the past few weeks either in whole announcements such as Marcus Schulz’s show at the Best Buy Theater Saturday September 1st on his Scream Album Tour (album coming August 31st, get excited), or through other means like Adrian Lux announcing a tour date September 1st at Roseland Ballroom, one of the designated afterparty sites. Now we have the full announcement and these shows are mouthwateringly good for all fans if you are still able to move your body after an entire day of E Zoo. All the parties are at either Best Buy Theater or Roseland Ballroom, which maximizes the amount of attendees for the events and use some of the better venues in New York City. They are all from 11pm until 4am, so the party does not have to stop of Randall’s Island and can go on at venue of your choice, going on well into the night.
There is something for everyone with Dubstep and DNB provided by the likes of 12th Planet & Netsky on Friday at Best Buy Theater, with Full On Ferry (Ferry Corsten’s big production single artist show) bringing Gabriel & Dresden, Michael Woods and Audien along at the opposing venue, Roseland Ballroom. Saturday has Markus Schulz and an excellent lineup of House at Roseland Ballroom, with Sunday finishing it off with some Trance stars like Aly & Fila and Jochen Miller at Best Buy Theater with Zedd and Hardwell highlighting the end of these glorious labor day weekend festivities at Roseland Ballroom. Electric Zoo is less than two months away and now we have the official trailer from Made Event, which is a bit disappointing I must say, but to really get you in the mood for this year and your heart rate up, just watch the after movie from last year. The lineup this year lacks the trance god in Armin, but is made up with a bountiful display of talent across the board with the likes of Above & Beyond on Friday AND Saturday, bringing their friends to the Group Therapy stage on Friday, as well as notables such as Pretty Lights, Knife Party, Skrillex, Porter Robinson, Axwell, Dada Life, Tiesto, Dash Berlin, Hardwell and everything in between from your underground house to dubstep to trance. It has something for everyone, so if you are in the NYC area on Labor Day weekend, your plans have been made and the ticket link below with the lineup is your next course of action.
Events, Review, Trance | Dash Berlin & Tritonal @ Governors Island 6/30 Review

There is always something special about a trance concert and Saturday night festivities of Dash Berlin & Tritonal with Zack Roth opening was no exception. Zack Roth got the crowd nice and warmed up with a new influx of people coming over on the ferries ever hour, creating a new addition to the trance family in attendance. Once 7pm hit and Tritonal graced the decks, the show kicked into full gear with the bass projecting well across the small span of water separating Manhattan and Governor’s Island, getting the party started on the ferry. Once past the thorough, but fast moving security and onto the Island, the excitement was palpable. The sweet, soulful sounds of Tritonal’s trance was blasting out of the speakers at the front of a large tent packed with trance addicts losing themselves in the music. Going further back beyond the tent was a beach filled with people taking a break, enjoying a cold beverage and chatting on the sand with Tritonal still very much audible behind them.
Tritonal played a great set, not just picking songs from their growing discography or confining themselves to trance, but also moving outside of the genre with tracks like twice played in the night Porter Robinson -Language, “Calling”, the Swedish House Mafia remix of “Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall”, a mashup by Gareth Emery of John Dahlback – Life, Madeon’s remix of “The Night Out” and more. Those songs got great reactions, but this crowd was truly here for some trance and thus the peak time moments of the sets were from songs like Jochen Miller – Zodiac, Above & Beyond feat. Richard Bedford vs. Omnia & Ira – The Fusion Tonight (Chris Schweizer Mashup) and of course their tracks like “Lifted”, the dub mix of “Slave”, “Everafter” and finishing off with the Seven Lions remix of “Still With Me”, complete with them coming in front of the decks and jumping around like fans. Their stage presence was impeccable, showing off a whole ensemble of dance moves and when they were not displaying their djing abilities, they were leaving the decks for a minute or two to either rage on top or in front of them. More of the recap after the jump.
