To be entirely honest, I’ve been pretty disappointed with some of the new-age, more fratty rap that’s been coming out recently; but when Bijan hit me up with this track the other day, I couldn’t help but be pleasantly surprised. Featuring the hook from Lorde’s “Team,” the Bay Area native throws down a series of outrageously chill verses on an original beat by Monaco, taking his game to the next level. A 16 year old girl from New Zealand has hit the music world by storm with her hit single “Royals,” and it doesn’t seem like the hype is going to die any time soon. Yesterday, Lorde released another track, “Team,” off her upcoming album Heroine. Truthfully I’m not sure I get the hype behind this artist, nor the hit-factor behind her tracks, though I can’t deny that I am impressed by Lorde’s talent, and how fast her music has taken off. “Team” is minimalist in production, layered with thoughtful lyrics, which are sung in a Lana del Rey fashion.
