Exclusive, Featured, Interviews | Moska Talks Beginnings, His Future and Dishes Advice to Other New Producers

Posted by on July 26, 2013

MoskaColombian producer Moska is a name being heavily supported by some of the biggest brands in the industry. At just 19 years old, his talents are nothing to ignore. Having already released tracks on Musical Freedom, Mad Decent and Mixmash, receiving heavy support from each of the label bosses, Tiesto, Diplo and Laidback Luke, and played or been scheduled to play at some of the biggest venues worldwide, Moska has his sights at the top of the dance music echelon. His genre-blending sound allows him to cross over to so many different styles, having already collabed with Tiesto on their remix of “Century”.

He plans to move to Miami by the end of the year to move his base of operations to one of the meccas of dance music today. One issue that has held him back is visa problems, specifically the O-2 visa that holds back his ability to work in the US. The O-2 is designed for people in the entertainment industry, notably individuals new or unrecognized in the industry as per the US government. Because of this, he has to be working alongside Laidback Luke, his current sponsor and any other work would be considered a violation of his visa. So shows, studio time and any professional work has to go through Luke, which can really hinder his growth as an artist here, especially when promotors want to book him. However all of this should be resolved with by the end of the year with many fees paid, lawyers hired, letters sent to the government by Tiesto, Laidback Luke & others, and pages, upon pages of documents sent, he should be fine to go on Laidback Luke’s Fall bus tour in October.

We had the chance to talk to him about his bright future, how he got into electronic music, working with Tiesto and some advice he gave for young producers, like himself.

Progressive House | Alexander Technique & Disco Killah Feat. Luca Masinsky – Skyscraper (Laidback Luke Remix)

Posted by on July 20, 2013

Alexander Technique & Disco Killah Feat. Luca Masinsky - Skyscraper (Laidback Luke Remix)Calling on his “Ones To Watch” label pool, Laidback Luke has decided to remix the release from Alexander Techinque & Disco Killah. Having already stated that he would silence the haters (not sure who would hate on Luke), he has moved from his tougher tracks like “Pogo” and “Dynamo” to more melodic stuff for the second half of the year. The superbly talented Dutchman he gives us a remix fit for the biggest rooms, with soaring melodies, while still keeping it grounded in his signature sound, calling on his hallmark key play and bass line. The big room scene can become a bit generic at times, but if Laidback Luke is putting his talents back into the ring, expect some things to be shaken up as he always brings a new perspective.

Electro-House | DallasK – Heaven

Posted by on July 19, 2013

DallasK - HeavenHaving finally hit 20,000 Facebook fans, as promised, DallasK has released his previously previewed single “Heaven” as a free download. Free releases for social media milestones tend to be token gifts of gratitude, whether it is a live set, a bootleg pack or a re-release of something old. Rarely do you get something good for free and that is exactly what DallasK has done here with “Heaven“. The track expertly samples The Killers “Somebody Told Me”, crafting a sturdy bass line and grungy electro, adding pitched chords as the track progresses for additional complexity.

Electro, House, Videos | Calvin Harris ft Ayah Marar – Thinking About You (Video)

Posted by on July 16, 2013

Calvin Harris ft. Ayah Marar - Thinking About You (Michael Brun Remix)Calvin Harris just dropped a massive music video for his upcoming single “Thinking About You” featuring the lovely Ayah Marar, and folks this video is legendary. There are actually two videos on YouTube at the moment due to a few glimpses of nudity, and a steamy sex scene in a private jet, so if you’re feeling risque and a nice pair of buttox doesn’t bother you, feel free to enjoy the explicit version. I’m still trying to figure out what the story line behind this video is, but nonetheless I can’t help but be a fan of the cinematography, and the epic shots… Oh and if you’re wondering who Ayah Marar is or where she comes from, she’s one of Calvin’s closest friends, and currently has an album out called “The Real” which I invite all of you to check out, as I’m sure we’ll be hearing more of her as “Thinking About You” climbs up the charts, and into your favorite Top 40 radio stations…

Electro-House, Progressive House | Rihanna ft David Guetta – Right Now (Remixes)

Rihanna ft David Guetta – Right Now (Remixes)
Pop vixen Rihanna has become one of the leaders in bringing dance music into popular music, for better of for worse, collaborating with Calvin Harris, David Guetta numerous times and on “Right Now” bringing on the talents of Nicky Romero for what he called a “basic” production. While the track has had staying value for radio play and commercially, being an anthem for the NBA playoffs, as a club weapon it needed a facelift and that is exactly what it got from a group of Dutchmen in this remix package.

Dyro does not change too much, but rather adds his own gritty formula that blends with the original melody, beefing up the bass line as a possible track for more commercial audiences. Sick Individuals took more liberties with the track, adding a rolling, pitched bass line and big room synths to make this my favorite of the two, though the Dyro remix has received the brunt of the publicity.
