Hip-Hop | Drex Carter and Kkami Team Up on ‘Pelican Bay Drive’
Posted by VMan on June 2, 2020
Orlando musicians Drex Carter (rapper) and Kkami (producer) team up for a new collaborative 10-track-project called Pelican Bay Drive that they created during Quarantine. The two artists are also members of the buzzing 9-piece collective, seeyousoon. Check out their mixtape above now and read a quote from Drex below.
“We made this project in 1 week with the idea of it being 1 verse raps over Kenny’s dusty/lofi style of production but the tracks sort of took on a life of their own with some hooks and filtered/tuned freestyled melodies.” – Drex Carter
Abstract Hip-Hop, Chill, Hip-Hop | Drex Carter and Kkami Connect on THAW

With stellar beats from Kkami and dope flows from Drex Carter, THAW is well worth listening to. The EP is a great introduction to both artists if you are unfamiliar with their prior music, while also showing a different side of each artist’s normal style. Drex’ approach is more laid back and less lyrical than his older music and Kkami’s hybrid instrumentals on this one lean a bit more in the indie scene compared to his older drops. Tune in above now.
