Not a fan of this one…expected a better managerial decision than Drake agreeing to do a feature on this track. This sounds like something that should have been on Now 3, am I right? I posted some real hip hop below to save this post…

This video is a little old but it really caught me off guard on just how dope it is from the song to the video itself. In it, Pmac rocks a chill flow over a beat that samples that one song you probably have heard at least once in your life. For me, it was the song my Dad always sung to annoy the hell out of me/get me out of bed in the morning. As much as that worn out the song for me, Pmac’s producer Rollie Beats flipped it to create dope Hip Hop instrumental that Pmac absolutely ripped apart. I don’t post Hip-Hop often so when I do, you know it’s something special. Styles P and Busta Rhymes both lay down some strong bars, but the Rick Ross flare makes the track. Hip-Hop | Kenton Dunson – Top of the World Feat. Passion Pit

The talented Hip Hop up and comer, Kenton Dunson, who brought us the impressive project, Creative Destruction 2, has given FNT the exclusive premiere of his latest song “Top of the World,” which samples Passion Pit’s “The Reeling.” The way he flipped “The Reeling” is really something else and takes advantage of the Passion Pit’s unique synths highlighted in the beginning of the original. “Top of the World” is definitely a track to cruise around town to… windows down.
“The internet is the proving to be the most powerful tool for upcoming artists like myself. You can really see the world and when that world is moved by your art…it’s an amazing feeling. So I based the song partially from that but also wanted to release one for those of us who are not only ambitious, but actually act on it and eventually succeed. The other day I asked our FB fans (if you haven’t already done so like us – HERE) to drop their favorite unknown rapper in the comment box and CALiPH is the one that caught my ear. Although I didn’t post a criteria, I was looking for someone with raw talent that might help me restore my faith in the budding hip hop artists. The cuts below were my favorite tracks off his Soundcloud account. “Fly Away” is totally dope, damn, so is Gettin’ Out.

I gotta be honest here guys, I rarely find myself listening to R&B. Its not that I don’t like it, its just that in a world filled with electro heaters, and hard hitting hip-hop, its hard to slow down and give R&B tracks the time to grow on me. Well Mateo managed to do just that, and I think that it has a lot to do with his musical approach:
My style is like R&B with Soul in it. A lot of R&B is just singing over Hip-Hop beats but I want to build on that and take it to another level. I want to add some piano keys over the beats and add something melodic to it. My style is like if you played Coldplay over break beats. – Mateo
