German duo, Jewelz & Scott Sparks have been on fire lately with their previous singles “Toxic Rush” and “Flashbang” garnering enourmous support and becoming staples of many Djs sets. “NYMSN” or “New York Make Some Noise” continues on the same style as their previous releases with a brooding big room build and a driving stripped back drop, set for the festival stage at WMC. Already garnering support from Mark Knight, Hardwell & David Guetta, their inaugural release of 2013 and on Cr2 records looks to propel them to an even bigger year.

Progressive House | Joe Ghost – Are You Ready (Hardwell Rework)

Posted by on January 21, 2013

No stranger to edits and reworks, Hardwell takes this track from Canadian producer Joe Ghost and molds it into a release fit for his revered Revealed Recordings. As first premiered on Hardwell’s essential mix, we see Dutchman’s return to the production following the very successful “Apollo“. Hardwell’s work is very noticable with his hallmark synth present in both builds and while the snare is very similar to that of Yves V “Mandala“, its quick alternating pattern still remains a powerful weapon to be used in any set. With “The Code” set for release in 2 weeks, look for Revealed Records to have a strong start to 2013.

DJ-Set | Weekend Mixes 1/10/13 Year End Edition Part 2

Posted by on January 10, 2013

It is time for the weekend and since I missed last week, there is going to be A LOT of mixes in this post. I have about 24 hours of music and all of it good. We start things off with Hardwell’s yearmix that goes through his accomplished discography from this year and a selection of tracks from his label, Revealed Recordings. Next up is from yearmix from Nicky Romero that includes his numerous releases from this year and the unreleased “Symphonica”. Hook N Sling provides us with his take on 2012 in a high energy, bootleg heavy mix. Young Polish Dj Tom Swoon goes the extra mile and gives us 61 tracks in 2 hours for his year end mix, traversing genres from electro to trance to progressive.

After the jump we have the two latest episodes of The Drop that include exclusives from both guest mixers, Qulinez & Synchronice. Next week they are celebrating their 50 episode with mixes from Djs like Leon Bolier, Lazy Rich & Maor Levi all week so head to their Facebook page for full details. You will also find year end mixes from Dannic, Inpetto, who mix 50 songs in 1 hour, Dzeko & Torres who mix 40 songs in 10 minutes, Gregori Klosman and N3AKO. Lastly, included are a various assortment of other mixes and live sets from the past week or so, notably from NYE celebrations.

House | Mimada’s Top 12 for 2012

Posted by on January 5, 2013

With the renaissance of music festivals and growing popularity of electronic music, it’s safe to say my attendance to live shows grew exponentially in 2012 (not that I had that many years under my belt to begin with). However, this really changed my perception of music and how I listened to it. Before, I would see an artist based on my familiarity with them and listen to their songs on repeat in the parking lot until moments leading up to the show. Now, it’s more so that I attend a concert based on the artist’s live talent and/or how much fun the performance will be. When I hear their songs in the future, I get sentiments of that first time I heard it sitting outside in a grassy field surrounded by flag holders or squished up against girls in moonboots rather than it’s premier on SiriXM radio. For me, music in 2012 was not about what would get me out of bed in the morning or play in the background at the gym while I worked out: it was what I could dive into and take me away from any known reality. I guess it’s always kind of been that way, but once you get a peek at my top 12, I think you’ll understand what I mean.

Electro-House | Showtek & Bassjackers – Hey!

Posted by on December 31, 2012

Hardstyle turned electro house duo, Showtek and producer and Dj duo, Bassjackers, give us this heavy track that is prime for your NYE playlists. Just like Showtek’s previous productions this year with Tiesto, Hardwell and Justin Prime, this one goes HAM. This may not have the same power as “Cannonball“, but it shines like “Hell Yeah” and should be played as loud as possible late tonight.

Progressive House | Hardwell ft. Amba Shepherd – Apollo (Moiez Remix)

Posted by on December 16, 2012

Moiez follows up his “Clarity” remix with a take on Hardwell’s latest single with Amba Shepherd “Apollo”. The Vancouver native works with the build of the original adding a small bit of his own touch to it and then switches the drop completely, flipping the glitchy, Porter Robinsonesque electro of the original for a driving big room drop of airy synths, a punchy bass line and a playful arp. One thing I really like about this remix is that the original didn’t have enough of the vocals from Amba Shepherd and this remix uses her part twice.
