Albums | Genre-blending producer Tones unveils groovy tech-house single “Maniac”
Posted by VMan on May 4, 2023
Since releasing his first official single in 2022, genre-blending dance producer Tones is on track to take over the world.
Having already performed around the globe in cities such as Las Vegas and Dubai, performed at Goldrush Music Festival, and shared stages with electronic music heavyweights such as GTA and Party Favor, the Arizona-based, multi-faceted artist is on a trajectory to playing international mainstages.
Tones’ ambition knows no bounds. As an entrepreneur, mental-health advocate, and dynamic DJ/producer, the artist makes an impact in every facet of his life – whether it be by serving on the Mental Health Advisory Board of Directors at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, or shiting over to his nighttime passion by playing rowdy, club-igniting DJ sets.
Now, Tones releases “Maniac,” an incendiary club thrillride that doubles as manifestation. Tones’ was initially inspired to produce after attending his first-ever festival and witnessing the contagious energy of dance music – “Maniac” is the ultimate product of that awakening. Designed to one day be played out by the producer at a music festival mainstage, “Maniac” appropriately captures that raucous, festival energy with its expertly crafted, heart-stopping drops, intoxicating sound design, and propulsive, dance-fueled beat making. “Maniac” kicks off with a hypnotizing four-on-the-floor beat, fleshing out the instrumental by slowly incorporating house high-hats, rising synths, and infectious backing vocal samples. The track then builds with a harrowing vocal flip underlying potent orchestral hits, thumping kick drums, and pitched down vocals repeating the song’s central conceit: “I’m a maniac.” “Maniac” then subsumes into its cracking, tech-house drop replete with groovy basslines and blazing, syncopated synth leads. Pulsating, catchy, and imminently danceable, “Maniac” perfectly encapsulates Tones’ intuitive production skillset and portends a bright future on electronic music mainstages for years to come. Fans can see Tones play out “Maniac” at EDC Las Vegas next month and on the legendary Groove Cruise Miami next January for the festival’s 20th anniversary edition. |
Albums | MXSY Makes Statement With Trap Monster “Calentura”
Posted by VMan on March 1, 2023
FUXWITHIT is always on the hunt for the next wave of artists taking bass music to new heights. The never-ending quest has taken the label to Dublin, Ireland with the discovery of 15-year-old production sensation MXSY. Don’t let his age or follower count fool you, MXSY is up next. A slew of incredible self-releases have been building his catalog and hype. Add in a single on the always impressive dumb collective and a remix of Gurf’s ‘Big Gurl’ and it’s clear that MXSY is gearing up to take over the electronic trap scene. With the release of ‘Calentura’ on FUXWITHIT, MXSY is about to put everyone on notice.
“Calentura” is one of the year’s stand-out trap bangers. The opening melody and atmospherics set the tone with an alluring and addictive sound. The feverish vocal drives things forward as it’s bent and chopped over the course of the track, giving the song its namesake. The drops are devastating and riddled with bass, finding a pocket that’s true trap perfection. What makes ‘Calentura’ so exciting is the progression. Even within the drops, MXSY is constantly keeping listeners on their toes, whether it’s feaking the bass, twisting the melodies, or mixing up the percussion. “Calentura” proves MXSY should be everyone’s artists to watch list for 2023 and sets the bar for trap bangers this year.
“My goal when creating ‘Calentura’ was to create a strange, atmospheric kind of landscape, and then switch it up completely for the drop, with a groovy beat and a weird bass sound to catch listeners off guard. I wanted listeners to always be on their toes, not knowing what is coming next. For example, they are waiting for the drop, just for it to be teased for 4 bars, then all of a sudden have it smacked in their faces!” -MXSY

Meet 13th Zodiac. LA’s next big house duo that you need to get to know. We received their brand new “Booty Sweat” single this week from ItsNoRequests and absolutely love it. In fact, we can’t get enough. We’ve been abusing the repeat button on Soundcloud since it released. When asked about the meaning of their brand new “Booty Sweat” single, 13th Zodiac said:
“Booty Sweat is a track that is inspired by a global pandemic club-goers face today. The track itself is driven by a thumpy, yet groovy bass line, and followed by a low pitched voice that cuts through the mix to lock down the groove. It is guaranteed to instill perspiration between moist thighs worldwide.”
Available on all your favorite streaming platforms, “Booty Sweat” is the first release of many from the LA duo dropping this summer. Get invested. Keep an eye. 13th Zodiac is a group on the rise.

Electronic-pop artist Bearoid shares his daring new single “Enemy”, sporting a playful synth melody and catchy vocals. Using strong, layered synths, Bearoid creates a track that is equal parts groovy and meaningful. Samples of arcade-game synths fill the song, and when the chorus hits, the strong pulsating beat shines through. Bearoid’s vocals are unique and powerful – delivering a beautiful top-line that really pieces everything together. In a world where we are more connected to technology than humans, Bearoid’s playfully taps into something deeper and more meaningful — a rarity in electronic music.

Recently we were treated to a great new track called ‘White Shadows & Grey Noise’ by a trio out of Melbourne who go by the name Passerine, and this week they have returned with two very impressive remixes by two very talented artists, OK Sure and Super Magic Hats. Both friends of Passerine, the two remixes vary in style but feature plenty of groovy synths, powerful drums, and make use of the beautiful vocals from the original. The remixes are definitely worth checking out, and are a great addition to your library as be round off summer and enter the cooler autumn months.
