Hip-Hop, Videos | Will 50 Survive This Rap Game?
Posted by BIGLIFE on November 10, 2010
50 Cent fell off the map after his multiplatinum album “Get Rich Or Die Trying”. His follow up projects lacked the clean and deep thug bumping beats found in songs like “Many Men”, “If I Can’t”, and “Wanksta”. GR or DT worked for 50 because he kept it simple and collaborated rap fathers like Nate Dogg, Dre, Snoop, etc. Perhaps his lack of recent success can be credited to the fact that these names are basically non existent. Instead 50’s producing garbage because he’s stuck working with RnB artists like Bobby V, who recently hopped on a track called “Altered Ego” (posted below).
Fortunately, all is not lost because 50’s taking a new approach with his new album. According to the interview posted above, 50 will be hand-picking artists to hop on his tracks rather than doing “forced” collabs in the studio. Hopefully this will result in some more “authentic” sounding 50 songs. His upcoming album, which is a follow-up to 2009’s flop “Before I Self Destruct”, will be 50’s fifth solo release. More importantly, it’ll fulfill his obligation to the Shady/Aftermath label which will offer him some additional creative freedom in the years to come.
