Anyone dismayed by the news about Dog Blood’s upcoming EP getting delayed until August 20th should head immediately to the duo’s Soundcloud page, where Middle Finger Pt. 2 can now be streamed in full (well, almost in full; there’s a Trapmasters remix of the titular track that doesn’t appear to be up yet). Most of this should sound familiar — between festival sets and Skrillex’s recent BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix, it’s likely that you’ve heard “Middle Finger Pt. 2,” “Chella Ride” and “Shred Sled (Kill ‘Em With The Beat)” before. Also of note: a typically great M Machine remix of “Middle Finger Pt. 2” that gets positively savage. Check it out below, and support the great work that Skrillex and Boys Noize are doing by purchasing the EP when it drops officially on the 20th.

Progressive House | Pryda – Power Drive

Fitting on a day filled with trickery, deception and tomfoolery, there is a release from one of the few truths in dance music, Eric Prydz. “Power Drive” is one of those tracks that you don’t necessarily know when it is going to hit, but when it does, it smacks you across the face like a backhand from Mr T. In his first release of the year, Eric Prydz delves into the mind of Pryda, slowing building with a super melodic amalgamation of piano, arps and synths that crescendoes into an infectious driving low end, bringing in many of those elements from the build in a display of raw force from the melodic master. If this is any indication after his incredible Essential Mix to start the year and with an Eric Prydz album slated for release this year (we hope), he shows no signs of letting up as one of the best in the game.

DJ-Set, House | DIrty South Essential Mix 3/16/13

Coming off of his debut album “Speed of Life“, Dirty South has taken over the reigns of the legendary essential mix to showcase his own new music as well some new tunes from his label and others. With Ultra dominating the dance music discussion, Dirty South had the untenable task of trying to create a set that would capture the hearts and minds of those in Miami or who wish they were. There are a few bootlegs in here, but overall this mix is not about strong mixing skills, but rather a great track selection and brand new tunes from start to finish.

Dirty South starts out with the title track of his album “Speed Of Life”, adding in the vocals from “City Of Dreams”and then moves through one of the several premiers from his own Phazing Records, Those Unusual Suspects’ “Blaze”. Later on we get the first glimpse of what is to come from Michael Brun’s upcoming EP on Phazing with his single with Zashanell “Halfway”. The Australian star puts on full display unreleased tracks from major labels like Size, Spinnin and Mau5trap with tracks such as “Liceu” from Sebjak & Marcus Shossow and “Here & Now” from Ummet Ozcan. He gives the radio premier of the Jacques Lu Cont remix of his still potent “City Of Dreams”, keeping the same melodic properties of the original, while adding his own twist and has the exclusive of Ivan Gough vs Steve Bleas & Stevie Mink’s “Boom”, forthcoming on Size Records and a new Pryda record “F.A.T.”, something that always gets the blood flowing. Pryda did very well last night with not only the premier of this record, but the even bigger “Power Drive” on Pete Tong’s Essential Selection, a track that is to be part of his next EP. While this essential may not stack up against the epic Eric Prydz essential mix back in February, but then again there may not be any that will, the Aussie has put in a very strong mix to continue his outstanding start to the year.

Following up Eric Prydz’s legendary essential mix last week, Mat Zo had the unfortunate job of trying to follow up that otherworldly two hour mix. Mat Zo manages to mix 75 songs into the 2 hours given to him, making for some very quick transitions and interesting drops. The mix takes you on a journey of genre and style moving through not just trance or house, but through tech, nu-disco and even some drum n bass, as be used to make it himself under his MRZO alias. The mix is nothing like you would hear from a Mat Zo club set, but rather the eclectic taste of the artist and displaying his care free attitude for barriers in music. The mix features new tracks from his upcoming album, including the funky “Pyramid Scheme”, which we have heard in his sets for the past few months and also has some exclusive cuts from The M MAchine and fellow Anjunabeats label mates Andrew Bayer and Norin & Rad. Tracklist after the jump.

Eric Prydz returned to BBC Radio One’s legendary essential mix last night and the result was extraordinary. A two hour mind bending journey of unreleased tracks from the melodic master and his protégés, ranging from bright uplifting tracks like “Everyday” and “Let Me Feel” to the darker Cirez D cut. A few other individuals were able to sneak into the mix, but this was a showcase of the Pryda’s production prowess and what should be on the horizon for the next year or two we hope. Sit back, turn off the lights and get ready to be taken on an epic 2 hour journey by Eric Prydz. Pay attention to “ID 1”, because that one will be stuck with you for a while. Tracklist after the jump.

Thomas Gold gets right into the club ready drop of pulsing pitched chords and quick alternating snare and evolves the track with a slow melodic interlude that beckons in that same pulsing drop from before. He is about to embark on his winter North American tour, so be sure to check him out at a city near you.

Hardwell made his debut on the legendary essential mix last night and put his name in contention for essential mix of the year. As head of Revealed Records, he showcases the recent releases of his well established label, while giving us a glimpse at what is to come with 13 unreleased tracks in the mix, including his single “Apollo” set to release in two days.
