Progressive House | tyDi & Maison & Dragen ft. Toni Nielson – Walk On Water

The track originally started out as just tyDi & Toni Neilson working together in an NYC studio, but thankfully Finnish duo Maison & Dragen were added to the mix and added the energy and big room intensity it needed. The track wastes no time getting to the chase with a powerful opening that slowly tails off into a smooth piano build, letting Toni Nielson’s magnificent vocals shine, ushering in an anthemic, driving synth laden drop. Of the packed music Monday we had yesterday, this may be the gem of them all. Watch out for Maison & Dragen this year, they will be making some noise. “Walk On Water” is part of tyDi’s “When I Go” EP that features 4 originals and an outstanding remix from Arnej.

Electro-House | Arno Cost – Head Up

HeadUp1

Following the release of “Lifetime” late last year, and now “Head Up”, Frenchman Arno Cost with these two productions has certainly embraced a heavier, tougher sound from the time he first started the Freshmakers with Normon Doray in 2006 and since then has been known for true to the term progressive house. “Head Up” marks Arno Cost’s premier on Steve Angello’s Size Records driven by a minimalist drop with a grinding low end meant for the festival stage. “Head Up” kicks off what is sure to be an outstanding year for Size Records with releases coming up like “Hit It”, Sebjak & Marcus Schossow “LICEU”, IDs from Promise Land, Steve Angello & Matisse & Sadko, Steve Angello & Wayne & Woods, Tim Mason & more.

Electro-House | Tritonal – Azuca (Topher Jones Remix)

At first I was a bit skeptical of how this remix would turn out because I am a big fan of the original, but upon hearing the remix in full, my doubts were alleviated. Topher Jones keeps the same trancey build from the original with the recognizable vocal sample that gives this track its unique quality, while giving it an extra jolt of energy, bringing it to any set and any stage with a powerful, churning electro drop. Tritonal is group going through new beginnings with the rebranding of their “Air Up There” podcast to “Tritonia” that you need to keep your eyes peeled on this year and also be on the look out for a remix competition for Topher Jones’ “Brohammer”, which official remixes by Nari & Milani & Ken Loi were the staples of festival sets for months.

Progressive House | The Only – Looking Back (Walden Remix)

Posted by on January 18, 2013

Coming off of his single earlier in the week, “Intropial“, the 18 year old Australian, Walden takes on fellow Australian duo The Only’s single “Looking Back”, giving it a big room makeover. He keeps the original male vocals, while completely re-tooling the melody, adding more complexity to the piano driven build and a more anthemic, synth laden drop. The rest of the remix package features an assortment of different styles from electro to deep house.

Electro-House | Justin Bieber – As Long As You Love Me (No Pets Allowed Remix)

Posted by on January 17, 2013

I want to hate this so much because it’s Justin Bieber, but I can’t help but give credit where deserved. This turned out to actually be a great Electro-House production from No Pets Allowed. The drop reflects older Electro-House, or real Electro-House as I will call it. Most of the new Electro-House tracks now sound borderline Dubstep. Though I am embarrassed for liking this, No Pets Allowed kept it real and tasteful.

Dubstep, Preview | Underworld – Rez (Bassnectar Remix) [Preview]

Posted by on January 16, 2013

Well, happy effing Wednesday. Bassnectar may be off the grid at the moment, but we’ve still got an exciting preview of what to expect from him next month. In the midst of all the blowout shows he treated fans to at the end of 2012, it seems he managed to find time to polish off a monster remix of Underworld’s 1994 tech-trance epic “Rez”. If you’re a fan of Lorin’s explosive, mind-melting soundscapes, heady builds, ferocious low-end bass and unparalleled usage of drums, you’ll be all over his treatment of this track — it’s a slow, spacey journey through many of his trademark sounds. Look for it to drop bass in your face on February 12th.

Electro-House | Danny Avila – Breaking Your Fall (Remixes)

Posted by on January 15, 2013

Well connected aspiring Spanish DJ, Danny Avila has released the remix package for his debut single on Big Beat records with contributions from Mikael Weermets, dBerrie, Sick Individuals & Lucky Date. Each take very different approaches to their remix duty, each letting the vocals from the original shine and then remolding the melody as their own. Mikael Weermets takes the original melody and adds his own stuttered electro stabs for a tougher sound, while Sick Individuals distort the original melody and add their own grinding drop. NYC native dBerrie adds a quick pulsating electro synth line to replace the original melody and Lucky Date adds a grungy, bass heavy drop, making it possibly the most unique of the package.
