German duo, Jewelz & Scott Sparks have been on fire lately with their previous singles “Toxic Rush” and “Flashbang” garnering enourmous support and becoming staples of many Djs sets. “NYMSN” or “New York Make Some Noise” continues on the same style as their previous releases with a brooding big room build and a driving stripped back drop, set for the festival stage at WMC. Already garnering support from Mark Knight, Hardwell & David Guetta, their inaugural release of 2013 and on Cr2 records looks to propel them to an even bigger year.

Trance | Nitrous Oxide pres. N2O – K.O.

Anjunabeats has been a tear leading up to the release on Anjunabeats Volume 10 with one huge track after another each week. Following up tracks like Ost & Meyer’s “Here We Go“, ilan Bluestone’s “Sinai” and Audien’s “Wayfarer“, Anjunabeats regular, Nitrous Oxide returns with his single “K.O.”. Atmospheric synths, a grinding low end and quick key play pervade throughout while a minimal electro trance drop gives the track power for the live venue. This track shows the continued covergence of trance and house into what was once dubbed “trance 2.0” and as Armin van Buuren launches his “Are You Afraid of 138” campaign, it shows the widening difference in how trance is being perceived and produced in 2013.

Progressive House | Paris & Simo – Avon

Posted by on February 4, 2013

Canadian producers Paris & Simo follow up their remix of Fenech Solar “All I Know” with their first single of the year “Avon” on Harem Records. “Avon” shows hints of something we might see in like 2010 with the style of synths in the build and a drop with an outstanding melody layered with a grinding low end, thumping bass line and well time stops. Having proven that their win in the “Work Hard, Play Hard” remix competition was no fluke, Paris & Simo continue to show that they are worthy of the praise they receive.

Events, Review | Dirty South @ Lavo NYC 1/17/12 (Review)

Though this was last month, I still have some pretty vivid memories of this night. The standard crowd of good looking upper crust mid twenties New Yorkers, expensive alcohol flowing like the Niagara and Dirty South spinning his brand of big room house behind the decks. Walking up to the high end New York Club I saw the familiar scene of people trying to negotiate the strict line — the people attempting to get in on the left side with either a ticket or just the hope that their looks or money would woo the bouncers to let them by that red felt rope and the right side filled with VIPs and their hangers on willing to drop their’s or daddy’s credit card on a night they will probably won’t remember. I shuffle in a bit out of place next to those VIPs and eventually make it through the various layers of rope into the club. Click on to go inside with us.

Dubstep, Electro-House, Moombahton, Review | KillSonik – Where The River Runs Black EP

KillSonik - Where The River Runs Black EP

I literally could not wait for the release of this EP. KillSonik has done nothing but blow my mind on what type of artists they are to be known as. The duo kicked off the EP with a filthy Moombahton track, “Where The River Runs Black.” I never would have guessed that they would drop in a moombahcore track, let alone end up loving it. The first Dubstep track “Walrus” has had my mind going in spins the past few days. I enjoy the mellow intro that breaks into spooky synths, building up to an epic drop that I will forever relate to the mighty Walrus haha. “Slaughterhouse” is by far my favorite track of the EP. It is everything I hoped to hear from KillSonik in terms of a Dubstep track. Close behind in second though, “Je Te Veux” turned out to be the best surprise. When I found out the track was Electro-House, I was instantly excited to listen. To my enjoyment, this track owns face. Every expectation I have had over the past few months building my impatience was every bit worth the wait. KillSonik delivered.
