Dubstep, Preview | Alvin Risk – SKYCLAD

Posted by on February 25, 2013

Alvin Risk - SkycladIt is about time Alvin Risk had a good release. I am so sick of hearing sick new tracks in his live sets and then when he makes a release it’s one of the worst things I have ever heard. Sadly the official preview leaves out the most important part of the track that helps a person decide if they like it or not, the drop. Don’t be sad for long because I happened to find a little clip ripped from a mix that plays out what we want to hear. It is because of this that I have finally come to the conclusion that Alvin Risk still has it, he just needs to start making more releases to prove it. “Skyclad” releases March 5th on OWSLA.

Electro-House | Armin van Buuren & W&W – D# Fat

Posted by on February 25, 2013

D# fat

First things first: Armin van Buuren might have a production credit on “D# Fat,” but it ain’t trance. Nope, this collaboration with Dutch powerhouses W&W is electro to the core; in fact, it takes a leaf out of the book of “The Code” (another W&W special) and delivers a pounding bassline and hard-hitting, crunchy synth leads. Don’t let the piano riffs at the beginning fool you — this track packs a massive wallop and is sure to get dance floors moving as we head into the WMC home stretch. In all, “D# Fat” is a reflection of the next wave of progressive and electro house — it combines the best elements of both genres to great effect.

Los Angeles based producer, Paris Blohm, teams up with Mako and returning vocalist Angel Taylor for his second tribute to his sister who recently passed away. Much like his previous tribute “Presence”, “You Were Here” contains an impressive drop as well as a pleasant melody and uplifting vocals. With two quality tracks  being released in less than a month, Paris Blohm is shaping up to be a name to watch in 2013.

Dubstep, Preview | Teknian – Behemoth (DarkElixir Remix)

Posted by on February 23, 2013

Teknian - Behemoth (DarkElixir Remix)I never expected to hear a good remix of Teknian’s epic new tune “Behemoth.” DarkElixir collided worlds with Teknian’s original, leaving behind a wasteland ruled by heavy bass. Seeing as this is only one drop, one can not even coherently imagine what the other may sound like, but I have a feeling it’s just as mind blowing. Adding this one to the ‘must have’ list.

Jakob Liedholm, one of our artists to watch in 2013, recently hit 10000 likes on Facebook and as way of saying thanks, he has given away three of his tracks for free. Keeping consistent with his signature style, all three of these tracks are the type of cheerful, uplifting tunes that you would come to expect from him. Ranging from the unique use of guitar throughout “Eli”, to the high energy build in his and Tim Norell’s remix of Parker Ighile’s “So Beautiful”, to the amazing, bigroom drop in “Ocean”, these are all must listens.  If you enjoyed any of these tracks be sure to give him a like on Facebook if you haven’t already.

Dubstep | Robert Miles – The Children (Deckscar Reworked Mix)

After months of hard work and countless hours spent on perfecting this track, it is time everyone got to enjoy this amazing piece by Deckscar. Taking a well-known, well loved original by Robert Miles and giving it his dark, heavy spin on it to revitalize a dance music classic. The amount of detail and accuracy is amazing in this rework and the quality of craftsmanship really shows. The first drop is like no style I have heard from any other artist, which is what won me over right away. It doesn’t end their because the second drop is just as wicked as the first with an added mid-tempo twist. This is just the first of many amazing release from Deckscar so be sure stay on the lookout for more upcoming releases soon.

Trap | Stromae – Humain à l’eau (Dj Snake Remix) / DJ Snake & Alesia – Bird Machine [Preview]

Posted by on February 20, 2013

And here we have some straight bombs from French producers DJ Snake and Aleisa. The above preview for “Bird Machine” notably made its way into Knife Party’s recent set in the RISE digital music festival on turntable.fm after Mixify’s servers couldn’t handle the heat, and is easily some of the best trap I’ve heard in a long time. If you’re into it and need it now, fear not; it’s set to drop tomorrow as part of a mini EP on Mad Decent’s Jeffree’s imprint. Below, we’ve got some legitimate swag for your ears that for whatever reason is made even swaggier by the fact that it’s all happening in French. Fact: the awesomeness of that drop negates the need to understand what he’s saying, anyway. Free DL; no brainer.
