Hip-Hop, Rap | PELL – Floating While Dreaming
Posted by admin on May 27, 2014
Perhaps it’s the recycled subject matter, or the false need for a DJ Mustard beat, but it’s clear that many people are dissatisfied with the current state of hip-hop. It takes much more soul (Internet) searching to sift through the piles of gimmicky rappers that cloud our ears every day.
This past week rapper, PELL, did his part in clearing up the cloud. The release of his mixtape Floating While Dreaming proved to be both versatile and enjoyable to listen to. His melodic voice, accompanied by a slew of assonance-laden rhymes allows the tape to flow together with incredible cohesion.
PELL jumps between technical rapping and poppy hooks, and even shows his darker side on songs like, “SC2014”, featuring Boldy James.
When PELL spits: “It’s hard to stay loyal when there’s thousands who adore you.” it is hard not to think that those thousands will very soon be millions.
Indie, Progressive House | NONONO – Pumpin Blood (The Chainsmokers Remix)
Posted by Mel on January 20, 2014
The Swedish group NONONO (pronounced no-no-no..) very recently (though in all honesty it’s almost been a week) had their hit song “Pumpin Blood” remixed by The Chainsmokers and quite frankly, it’s not bad! It’s clearly not their best work and it actually kind of sucks but once you get passed all that it’s quite good! The track starts with a “really emotional piano intro that pulls you in”, according to them, and then climaxes at a good, yet oddly familiar drop that is probably a little too similar to their “Dreaming” remix. It then goes on to feature an almost trap like breakdown which certainly helps it stand out amongst their vast catalog of releases. This is likely not their best work but it’s still good song. We can’t expect them to hit a home run with every release because they just don’t have the talent to do so.
They have sold out big time and have their first original song “#Selfie” coming out on producing genius Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak Records on January 28th so get ready for that. It should be adequate.

Trance, Trap | EZRA – Dreaming
Posted by VMan on September 2, 2013
Dutch producer EZRA released a trance-trap fusion track called “Dreaming” and you can expect a euphoric trip with this one. With a progressive build from synths, to drums, to bass, topped with dreamy female vocals, you can’t go wrong. Sitting here reminiscing on this grey Labor Day of how epic Summer 2013 was, one can’t help but feel accomplished listening to “Dreaming.” Interestingly enough, just like all dreams, it’s too short! EZRA make us an extended version, 2 minutes of dreaming is just too short, and make this track available for downoad! Either way stream this record, and enjoy your day off! Must listen!
Drum & Bass | DnB Fridays

Kicking off DnB Friday the right way with probably the most amazing track I have heard all week. Silence Groove released this track as part of their EP “Eat Me Softly” about a week ago. The whole EP is amazing so be sure to grab it off Beatport HERE.
Oscillator Z dropped this pretty heavy drumstep remix to Linkin Park’s Burn It Down this week and it has been tearing my speakers apart all week. I love how one week he is making mellow melodic instrumentals and then before you know it he is releasing free heavy drumstep remixes. Either way his work it always top notch and this one is up there with the rest.
This track from Bionick exhibits some old school Dnb vibes which is what attracted me towards it. It had those heavy hitting drums and the grimy basslines. It was a sure download for me after the first listen.
Vocal DnB is where it is at and Rameses B nailed it on this original entitled Dreaming. Fuzing some of the techniques he uses in his melodic dubstep tunes he is able to combine the best of both worlds giving us this amazing track.
Hip-Hop | Tayyib Ali – Dreaming (Prod. by The Astronauts)

With his head high, Tayyib has been very eager to give his fans what they want. New music. Linking up with one of his top production duo’s, The Astronauts, Tay releases the latest single off his third coming mixtape. In the past they have collaborated on “High Definition”, “Tomorrow”, and “Never Change” and I think it’s safe to say we can expect more work in the near future. Tay spit me some of these bars acapella back when I interviewed him in Boston and I’ve been waiting for the final product ever since. Although the prince of Philly still has a way to go to be where he ultimately see’s himself, he’s got the demeanor and potential to make it there.
In other news, Tayyib and label-mate, Logic, are preparing to kick off their first even nationwide tour on July 7th, presented by Visionary Music Group. There’s no reason why you shouldn’t grab your tickets now! Full details after the break.
