Trance | Rambacy feat. Danny Claire – New Life (Cold Rush Remix)
Posted by JT on November 10, 2014
Trance enthusiasts will enjoy this one. Bringing energetic life into Rambacy’s progressive “New Life,” Cold Rush have done it again. This Estonian duo is not an unfamiliar name in the Trance scene. Indeed, they have stuck to their roots, pushing us into a state of trance with crushing bass and emotional synths as we fly at 138 BPM, consistently. This track is a pure example of what you can expect from the legendary Abora Recordings. Cold Rush have become essential additions to the toolkits of producer/DJ’s like Armin Van Buuren, Paul Oakenfold, Ronski Speed, Binary Finary, and Aly & Fila and 2014 shows no sign of slowing down. Close your eyes and reach out as Cold Rush extend their hand, helping you take a step off the edge of reality to a new existence.

Trance | Ferry Tayle feat. Sarah Shields & Ludovic H – The Most Important Thing (Falcon Remix)
Posted by JT on November 9, 2014
Calling all Trance Warriors! Fresh off the press at Always Alive Recordings, American trance producer Nate Kozlowski (Falcon) has brought us his take at Ferry Tayle’s “The Most Important Thing” and is this track fire. The guitar strings follow a transition from heart-melting vocals, stealing us away from reality. Euphoric would be an understatement. Nate has received support for his music from top trance DJs such as Armin van Buuren, Above & Beyond, Dash Berlin, Aly & Fila, Paul Oakenfold, Markus Schulz and Roger Shah. Nate also had the opportunity to debut his DJ career at EDC Orlando in 2012 after winning Insomniac’s Discovery Project contest.
This track is a prime example of uplifting trance – to all my friend who are not afraid of 138, expect this one to become an essential tune for your favourite DJ’s toolkit.

House | Matt Zanardo – Keep It Funky (Original Mix)
Posted by JT on October 31, 2014
House DJ’s, take out your notepads, because it’s time for a lesson in “Crowd-Control”. I haven’t been this impressed with mashup’s and bootlegs since I came across Kap Slap and 3LAU when they were on their rise. I’ve had the opportunity to witness Matt Zanardo live in action and I have to say, his productions are a testament to the types of parties he maintains on a consistent basis. Hailing from the jungles of Toronto, Canada, he’s recently blessed the HYSTERIA! and Dim Mak labels with some heavy releases and “Keep It Funky” is nothing less. Sampling “Hey Leroy” by Jimmy Castor, Zanardo adds a fat bass guitar, a groovy beat, and a touch of party masala that’ll blow any crowd out of the water. Cop this download and add it to your toolkit, quick!
FYI | Did DJ Serafin Jack Mednas and CID’s Collaboration?
Posted by BIGLIFE on October 23, 2014
It all started with a tweet. LIV Miami resident Mednas tweeted earlier today that he had discovered an unnamed DJ slash producer slash charlatan had stolen his intellectual property. Not just any intellectual property. It happened to be his “iLL Behavior” collaboration with super-producer CID who’s NY based. In fact, it was claimed by Mednas the DJ in question even had the track name changed when you “Shazamed” the record. We came across the story and couldn’t help but do some digging.
Here’s what we found: The DJ’s name is DJ Serafin, real name Jeremy Jimenez. He’s an LA based “producer” who’s signed to Peak Hour Music. He apparently has a few dates booked and seems to have a semi-legitimate Facebook and Twitter presence. Seems to check out. Not so fast. It only took a little searching in iTunes (and Amazon) and Spotify to find the real zinger.
FYI | Why Dillon Francis’s “Money Sucks, Friends Rule” Album Title Is Nonsense
Posted by BIGLIFE on October 21, 2014
Millionaire DJ Dillon Francis would like you to know he has an album coming out. Not just any album. An album disingenuously titled “Money Sucks, Friends Rule” that he would like you to purchase with your hard earned money. In an interview with Radio.com, Dillon explained the genesis of the title.
When he was stuck on what to call his album, Francis’ manager reminded him of the T-shirt idea. “I called my manager one day, and I was like, ‘I want to make a shirt that says ‘money sucks, friends rule’ in the Warriors font,” he explained during an interview backstage at Coachella 2014, referencing the distinct spray paint font used on the movie poster for the 1979 New York gang war movie, The Warriors. When he was stuck on what to call his album, Francis’ manager reminded him of the T-shirt idea.“I was like, ‘that’s the best title for an album.’ Because I really feel that way. Friends are forever. Money isn’t.”
Think about that for a second. This is coming from a DJ (and the Windish Agency) who commands $40,0000 a show. That’s only $10,000 less than than the median household income according to recent statistics released by CNN. In fact, only 26% of households in the US make $80,000 a year or more. In a matter of a few shows, Dillon can match that figure assuming manager and agent still take their cut. The title is antithetical to the motif that “DJ Rich As F*ck” is attempting to advance to his adoring flock.
Don’t misunderstand me. I’m all for artists making money. It’s no secret that it’s extremely hard to make a living being one. The barriers to entry are higher than ever. However, the title should be ridiculed, and ridiculed thoroughly. The joke isn’t on Dillon Francis. It’s on the fans who buy into this nonsense marketing. They’re so blinded by their love of the artist that it robs them of their ability to think critically and be a skeptic. Perhaps that’s asking too much of an “EDM” demographic steeped in rampant idealism and a penchant for low brow progressive house bangers re-packaged to them time and time again.
If Dillon truly believes that money sucks, he should give his album away for free.
Dillon Francis’s “Money Sucks, Friends Rule” is out via Columbia on October 28th.
House | Calvin Harris feat. John Newman – Blame (Mike Williams Future Remix)
Posted by BIGLIFE on October 18, 2014
I love Oliver Heldens weekly “Heldeep” radio series. The guy is always introducing me to new tunes that I may have missed throughout the week. I’m not a big “Blame” fan but I love what Mike Williams has done here. Very Oliver Heldens like. You can’t blame these up and comers. Everyone wants to re-produce that sound. In the words of every stereotypical DJ, I give this track the top support treatment. Cheers!
Mashups, Progressive House | EDX vs. Disclosure – Latch For Life (Jack Eye Jones Club Mash)
Posted by BIGLIFE on October 1, 2014
Few artists can pull off a quality mashup nowadays. It seems as though those times are over or, at the very least, numbered. Most of the glorious mashup DJ’s from the turn of the decade recognize this and are attempting to transition into original pieces. Sadly, few make it. However, Jack Eye Jones, a master of the original track trade, comes from the other side of the spectrum. Perhaps that’s why he can craft songs like “Latch For Life” and get away with it. The guy has a knack for these mashups so lend this track an ear. And for the snobby folks who refuse to consume inbred works, tune into my favorite Latch remix by Teemid.
And for good measure, my favorite Latch remix…
