Electronic, Mix | Kitsuné Soleil Mix 2 // Pyramid – The Summer Mixtape
Posted by Spice on June 19, 2013
The preternaturally chic folks at Kitsuné have just released two summer mixes that are chock full of warm weather jams for your listening pleasure. The first is a little minimix from Jerry Bouthier and Gildas Kitsuné; if you’re into nu-disco and funky electropop, this is your new mainstay. Hot Chip, Yelle, Viceroy, Tiny Dragons and many more are folded and blended into this brief but awesome mix. This is a great way to gear up for summer fetsival season — or, alternatively, to switch up the rotation in your car. Second is a longer (but just as groovy) mixtape from French producer Pyramid, which features great tracks from Gesaffelstein, Gigamesh, Alex Metric, and of course Pyramid himself. Tracklists after the jump (with song-by-song comments from Jerry Bouthier, in the case of the minimix).

Albums, Review | A Belated Discussion of Random Access Memories
Posted by Spice on May 31, 2013
By now, you’ve already listened to Daft Punk’s fourth album in full. You may have streamed it on iTunes, or downloaded the rip when it leaked (even though ain’t nobody got time for 192 kbps…), or perhaps you waited patiently and saved your first listen for the official, high quality, purchasable version. Your opinion of the album is probably already cemented.
But that won’t stop me from trying to change it.
House | Ginuwine – Pony (Viceroy “Jet Life” Remix)
Posted by Middy on May 31, 2013
We have long followed Viceroy’s progress from a mashup creator to a budding producer on the cusp of real success, making jams that resonate with the sound of summer. With the calendar fast approaching that bountiful and hot season, you will need to exchange those dark, brooding house tracks for cheery, groovy, bright tracks that are perfect for the sunshine, outdoors and pools. The summertime, all the time mentality that Austen Afridi, aka Viceroy brings with his tunes is just what you need to fill in the gaps for your summer playlists. Keeping the island vibe that we have heard in the previous five “Jet Life” remixes, Viceroy adds his smooth bassline and synth chords to the 90s classic from Ginuwine. Also for everyone in New York, he will be at Webster Hall the 14th with remix phenom RAC and Solidisco, a night of funk and disco you don’t want to miss. Grab your tickets here.

Events, Review | Kaskade – It’s You, It’s Me Redux Tour

I’ve finally washed ashore from the sensational tidal wave that was Kaskade’s It’s You, It’s Me Redux Tour. Everything you heard about drowning in sweat, auditory immersion and house deeper than the Mariana Trench was no exaggeration in reference to what I experienced that Tuesday night at his kick off show in Dallas. I’ll do my best to recreate the atmosphere (hehe) from that show but when it comes down to it, you just have to close your eyes in dive into the music yourself. Conveniently, I’ve provided the San Diego set in it’s entirety for your listening pleasure so all you need to do is press play and come with me on my journey to the most intimate underground electronic show you’ve only seen in your wildest dreams.
House | The Knocks ft. St. Lucia – Modern Hearts
Posted by Middy on April 17, 2013
New York duo, The Knocks have exploded onto the scene in the past year or two riding the crest of the nu-disco wave that has had a resurgence globally in line with the resurgence of EDM stateside. Coming off of several outstanding remixes, The Knocks return to originals in the same unique style that has driven their success.
Their latest effort tabs South African singer, St Lucia to deliver a silky smooth vocal top line that meshes impeccably with the instrumental from The Knocks. This intoxicatingly funky track is destined to be on repeat with its masterfully layered synths and arps that stand out as incredibly unique during this resurgence of nu-disco.
Dubstep, Electro-House, Mix | Going Quantum: SPACE LACES Guest Mix

I’m usually not a fan of listening to long mixes, but whenever you’re dealing with an artist who has no original releases under his name and is so exclusive, but somehow manages to have one of the craziest fan followings it’s hard to not post it. SPACE LACES is probably one of the biggest up and coming artist in the EDM scene, whether you knew about him a while ago, or are just learning about him this is just the beginning. This artist creates everything from nu-disco, to glitch, to dirty electro, all the way to the heaviest dubstep tracks you have ever imagined. People who follow him get up everyday just hoping for a release from this one of a kind artist. I would recommend everyone check him out because it is only a matter of time before his name is everywhere in the EDM world.
