Progressive House | Maarcos – Blaze (Dirty South Edit)
Posted by Middy on July 15, 2013
It is always tricky when you see an artist who “edits” a track, like you see here. It could be something significant like what happened to “In My Mind”, which was close to a remix by Axwell, or something as simple as a better mixdown or a small tweak in one part. We will probably never know however. In this track Dirty South edits Maarcos’ “Blaze”, who is fresh from a split with Those Usual Suspects and has decided to stake it out alone. The track brings us back to the bigger songs we heard a few years ago, crafting a very club-friendly sound with churning chords, a punchy bass line and a soothing interlude. “Blaze” has already seen support from the cream of the crop top DJs like Axwell, Seb, Hardwell and Alesso, so grab it today.

Aussie duo, Those Usual Suspects have been in Dirty South’s crosshairs for some time. They were a part of the 2011 vocal anthem “Walking Alone” with Dirty South, as well as releasing “Burn Forever” late last year on Phazing Records. This time Dirty South adds his own small edit to their track “Blaze”, creating a monster for the summer season with its chunky bass line that is ideal for all venues. It already seen support from the likes of Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso and Alesso, and Dirty South has been playing it out for a couple months now, so expect to hear more of “Blaze” in the coming months. Release is coming soon on Phazing Records.

Progressive House | Dirty South ft. Joe Gil – Your Heart (Michael Brun Remix)
Posted by Middy on May 18, 2013
Still riding high from the success of his debut album, “Speed of Life“, Dirty South has continued to assert his dominance on the dance music world with his remix of Monsta’s “Messiah”. His Phazing Records protégé, Michael Brun, gets the duty of the first official remix for the album, a fitting task for the man who’s recent collaboration with the dynamic man from down under, “Rift“, is still rocking sets worldwide.
Michael Brun takes the original melody from Dirty South and adds more oomph to it, injecting his own rolling synth chords, while maximizing the vocals from Joe Gil, a vocalist I expect to see much more of on forthcoming dance music records. Michael Brun continues to impress, and with a 3 track EP on the way on Phazing Records, his future is only getting brighter.

Dirty South‘s debut album “Speed Of Life” has reigned as one of the best dance music albums of the year thus far, and now it gets its first official remix from Dirty South understudy and Phazing Records signee, Michael Brun. The Haitian producer has caused quite a stir in the past year or two with stunning productions with the likes of Dirty South & Special Features, while having his tracks given the edit treatment by Dirty South & Hardwell.
Though this remix has already been released on iTunes in Australia, it never saw a worldwide release on Beatport or otherwise. Michael Brun takes the second production on the album with Joe Gil and adds extra energy, upping the ante on the melody and bass line. Michael, we are still waiting on that free track that was slated for release on 4/20…. you get sidetracked that day?

Having been previewed a few weeks ago, Dirty South releases his remix for UK trio Monsta‘s single “Messiah”. The mighty Australian, Dirty South is still riding high in 2013 with the release of his debut artist album “Speed of Life” and looks to continue that dominance with this remix. While the previously released Alvin Risk remix and the upcoming Feed Me remix will be more favorable for more bass heavy palates, Dirty South brings his uplifting style to the track, giving it a whole sound.
Dirty South brings us back with this remix, recalling his sound found in the 2008-2010 with tracks like his remixes of “Sorry” and “Sweet Disposition” and his single “Phazing“. The addictive, piano driven melody meshes perfectly with the soulful vocals, as Dirty South shows us once again that he one of premier producers around.

Events | EDC New York Lineup Phase 1
Posted by Middy on April 3, 2013
After releasing the trailer yesterday, Insomniac has finally shed light on some of the artists who will be gracing the stages here in New York on May 17th & 18th. Some may be wondering why there are so few compared to other festival announcements — remember it was shortened to two days, so 1/3 less DJs required. Some of the notable names on the list include Carl Cox, Steve Angello, Dirty South, Arty, Porter Robinson, Eric Prydz, Nicky Romero, Dash Berlin and Cosmic Gate. The lineup also sets itself up for at least 4 artist lead stages, Carl Cox & Friends, Steve Angello’s Size Matters with Thomas Gold, AN21 & Max Vengeli already on the bill, a trance stage of some sort, possibly led by Cosmic Gate if Armin does not show up in the second wave of artists, and another repeat of last year with Afrojack’s Jacked Stage with Quintino, Bassjackers and R3hab all on the bill. The lineup is very promising and seems to have plenty for all tastes. It will be interesting to see what comes out of the second wave of artists and judgment should be withheld until then.
