Dubstep | R Rated #27

Posted by on May 2, 2012

After seeing Emalkay live during Nocturnal Wonderland here in Texas, I can honestly say this tune absolutely smashes crowds and stages. I need a release date for this tune ASAP, because I can only listen to these rips for so long. Emalkay took my MVP out of all the performers during Friday of the festival, and this tune was probably the determining factor. Really hoping we get some more tunes from this guy soon. I’m happy to say we FINALLY have a new track from Killsonik that was released out of no where yesterday. After only releasing one remix for Nero last year these guys were never heard from again until recently. Having their new single put up on UKF dubstep as well promoting the release of their EP, “Blood Lust” , on May 28th. I will give it to them though, this is a killer remix.

Mach has been eagerly awaiting the release of this next remix by Stepsonics. I had never heard of him before this, but what a way to be introduced. The track has a nice buildup which slowly levels off to where everything goes silent. Next thing you know you get slapped in the face by the drop. Take this as your warning.

We are slowly seeing more and more material emerging from the Never Say Die camp. After their two track remix EP released last week as well as Skism’s remix a few weeks before that; now everyone awaits the release of this drumstep remix of Hadouken’s Parasite. Who wouldn’t want a remix from Skism AND Zomboy. From what I have heard Zomboy has a EP in the making, so looking forward to hearing some of his new bits in the upcoming months.

How many artist do you know that can take Rick Astley’s Never Gonna Give You Up aka Rick Roll’d theme song and create a sick glich hop remix over the vocals? I can only think of one and that is the 17 year old producer, Teknian. I’m not going to lie I would like it to just be an instrumental, but either way the beat is dope.

Next up is an artist I have been following and keeping in contact with for a while now, but nobody knows of the talent this guy really has. I think the original to this track was top notch, until I heard this remix by Andrew D. This guy really has no boundaries, dropping tracks through all genres that just keep blowing me away. Whenever I asked him to let me know when he finished this track, he told me if he ever does….. You can imagine the face I made; something along these lines 0_0. Check out this tune and let him know your thoughts in the comments and encourage him to finish this amazing remix!

Dubstep | Numa Crew – Infama Feat. Ninjaz & Charlie Dakilo

Posted by on May 2, 2012

Who is Numa Crew you ask? A crew of 7 producers and DJ’s combined in one super group hailing from Florence, Italy that have been bringing the best in Dub/Grime/Uk Funky styled music to our ears since 2005. I haven’t been good in keeping up with their releases which is a shame, because these guys bring some of the most unique sounds to the table. I am still trying to get over their World of Ragga track, that is a dubstep remix of Ini Kamoze’s World of Music that came out nearly two years ago. Mach and I have been on the hunt for some fresh Reggae Dubstep tunes lately and these guys are certainly one of the best at that style. With that being said one of their latest tracks Infama caught my attention right away with this slow dub style beat layered over what seems to be Portugese or Italian, not sure. Either way this track is beyond dope and the language barrier is the last thing that is going to stop me from banging to this track day in and day out. Be sure to grab this track and two others White Peach Records website HERE. Also be sure to like and follow their pages in the links below to stay up to date with these guys.

House, Preview | Eva Simons – I Don’t Like You (Fred Falke Remix)

Fred Falke is one of the great unsung heroes of electronic music. Yes, he has a considerable following and has been in the game for a long time, but for whatever reason I feel like he’s never fully given the spotlight. But perhaps that’s how he likes it. His understated yet musically lush remixes are always in keeping with the best of the French house tradition — melodic, disco-tinged, and eminently danceable. They’re also often so excellent that they quietly eclipse the original tracks (Robyn’s “Dancing On My Own” is a fantastic song, but Fred Falke’s remix has become the platonic ideal for me).

Falke’s latest remix, of the Zedd-produced “I Don’t Like You,” is a perfect example of his ability to fix something that wasn’t technically broken to begin with. He isolates Eva Simons’s powerful vocals and weaves in a new melody with a much more interesting chord progression, which beautifully showcases that almost ecstatic harmony in the chorus. No adrenaline-baiting builds, no airhorn samples or superfluous synthwork; this is just good old fashioned electronic music at its very best. I’m even feeling this over Nicky Romero’s remix, which has been getting heavy airplay on BBC Radio One lately and is sure to see more in the coming weeks. Preview Fred Falke’s remix in full below and look for it to drop on Interscope on May 22.

Dubstep | Subscape – Screw Up VIP

Posted by on April 10, 2012

Finally the edits of this song going around can stop. Probably one of the most sought after VIP’s in dubstep was given away for free by the Dub Police superstar, Subscape, himself. After listening to all the edits over the past months it feels good to finally have this banger. If you don’t know anything about this tune, then you need to get out from under your rock and grab this free download because things like this a don’t happen everyday where an artist gives away one of their top VIP’s. The dominant driving kick and snare definitely set up the mood for one of the grimiest VIP’s to date.
