Events | Ultra Music Festival Phase 2 Lineup Announced

Posted by on January 28, 2013

In case you missed it over the weekend, after announcing the first phase, Ultra announced the phase 2 lineup of the talent laden festival, adding 100s of names to its ridiculous bill. So imagine just about every Dj ever minus Daft Punk and add Snoop Dogg (Lion?). That is what Ultra is looking like this year with 100s of artists lined up over 7 stages over 2 weekends with Winter Music Conference packed in the middle. There is something for everybody here at Ultra. I could start listing them off, but it is pointless because everybody is there, so just check it out below to see the daily schedule for each stage and start the UMF countdown with 46 days left until Friday weekend one. Phase 3 will come shortly with Toolroom Knights and John Digweed’s Bedrock Records, so house fans be on the lookout for that.

House | Mimada’s Top 12 for 2012

Posted by on January 5, 2013

With the renaissance of music festivals and growing popularity of electronic music, it’s safe to say my attendance to live shows grew exponentially in 2012 (not that I had that many years under my belt to begin with). However, this really changed my perception of music and how I listened to it. Before, I would see an artist based on my familiarity with them and listen to their songs on repeat in the parking lot until moments leading up to the show. Now, it’s more so that I attend a concert based on the artist’s live talent and/or how much fun the performance will be. When I hear their songs in the future, I get sentiments of that first time I heard it sitting outside in a grassy field surrounded by flag holders or squished up against girls in moonboots rather than it’s premier on SiriXM radio. For me, music in 2012 was not about what would get me out of bed in the morning or play in the background at the gym while I worked out: it was what I could dive into and take me away from any known reality. I guess it’s always kind of been that way, but once you get a peek at my top 12, I think you’ll understand what I mean.

DO SOMETHING

House | Daft Punk – One More Time (95 Royale Remix)

Posted by on November 2, 2012

It is hard to go wrong with a remix of Daft Punk, especially a dope Disco remix like this one. Nammo and I also joke that we should have lived through the 70s, Disco just suits the style we want to party to. More people need to produce Disco, it has the most energy and is always feel good music. Big ups to 95 Royale for this awesome remix.

House | Daft Punk – Superheroes (Solidisco Remix)

Posted by on September 27, 2012

Solidisco has been on fire lately with their string of originals and remixes blowing up on Soundcloud and Beatport. Unfortunately, many of them weren’t available for free download but today you are in luck. They just released an amazing remix of Daft Punk’s classic single “Superheroes” for free download. With its awesome disco vibe and a climax made for the festivals, it’s hard not to fall in love with this one on the first listen. Give it a listen and download it for free below.

Moombahton | Moombah Mondays

Posted by on July 31, 2012

JWLS killed it on his latest release under Nadastrom’s new label. The “Bashin EP” consists of two dope originals from the Moombah Master and a pretty sick edit from Nadastrom. Don’t sleep on this release and grab it off Beatport HERE. Check out the sampler below to hear all the tracks.

Milo & Otis ripped this remix a new one. Their latest freebie is a trapt out remix to Yung Joc’s It’s Goin’ Down and I have to say it one of the better trap remixes lately. The past influx of trap remixes have all been dull, unoriginal, and too similar, but the guys definitely added a fresh aspect to this dope remix.

Always producing something fresh, Aylen has graced us with another release this week. His latest single entitled On Fire is a pretty sick original mix by the up coming artist. Making sure to include the ever so appealing laser synths, this track has got it all. You can download the other remixes along with this original off of his soundcloud.

After Jonny Chino’s remix of Daft Punk’s One More Time I didn’t think I would be seeing any other Moombahton remixes that would compare to his outstanding remix. It seems as though Alex S. has come through and put up some competition. I have to say this remix definitely won me over after my first listen.

Electro | Daft Punk – Technologic (F.O.O.L. Remix)

Posted by on July 5, 2012

F.O.O.L. (F*ck Our Ordinary Lives) has been blowing up my iTunes library this spring. I have acquired so many fire remixes and originals from the duo. This newest remix is another must have from them, it is a strict ravers Electro track. It is actually very hard for me to enjoy any remix of Technologic seeing as the repetitiveness of the original has ruined the track for me. F.O.O.L. brought this track back for me.
