Progressive House | Dimitri Vegas, Like Mike & Regi – Momentum (Original Mix)

Posted by on February 15, 2012

We first got a glimpse of Momentum when it premiered at Tomorrowland last year, that just so happens to take place in the homeland of both Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike in Belguim. They, alongside friend and fellow producer Regi have produced a calmly driven, simplistic record full of synths and chords made of bright and cheery noise. The brothers are renown for their usual hard stuff which may give this record mixed opinions, but one thing is for certain – Momentum shines light on their versatility as producers, and let’s our imaginations run rampid as to what may come next of them. No doubt, these brothers know how to party and inherently reflect that in the quality of their production.

Dubstep | M.I.A. – Bad Girls (StereoHeroes Remix)

Posted by on February 15, 2012

Ever since I watched the video for M.I.A.’s “Bad Girls” last week I knew we’d be in for a slew of heavy remixes. What I didn’t realize is that one would come so quickly. StereoHereos brings the filth on this, adding a wicked beat and some grimy synthwork that complement the tone of the song perfectly. If you haven’t checked out the video yet you definitely should — if only because I really need someone to tell me where I can buy everything that M.I.A. is wearing and how I can get my car to do that.

DO SOMETHING

RnB | Usher & Diplo – Climax

Posted by on February 14, 2012

Going to preface this by saying that I’m pretty sure I slow danced to this exact song at multiple school dances/bar mitzvahs/etc in the period spanning from 2001 to 2003. You know exactly what I’m talking about: one second it’s all fun and games, with everyone bobbing along in a large circle of Abercrombie graphic tees to “Ride Wit Me” (with the show-offy pros going word for word with Nelly on every verse), but then, in a single moment, everything changes. The tempo slows. The lights probably dim. And after a few plaintive notes, the sensual vocal stylings of Usher descend upon the dance floor. The tension in the room will immediately ratchet up about seven levels because this entire transition is unmistakable: everyone knows that Usher is the international signal for This Is About To Get Serious.

So with all of that in mind, here is a brand new, undeniably throwback-y collabo from Diplo and Usher, hopefully in time for whatever Valentine’s Day…celebrations…you may have planned for later this evening. It’s gloriously cheesy, smooth and catchy, and definitely timely: If not Feb 14th, when? So Happy Valentine’s Day, FNT. Grow some balls and ask your crush to dance if you couldn’t do it the first time around. And bring on the remixes.

EDIT: Read this interview with Diplo while listening to this song.

Moombahton | :DFace & Sazon Booya – Let It Be

Posted by on February 14, 2012

What a dope collaboration for a Moombahton track. Sazon Booya, who have been supported by Skrillex, Nadastrom and many other artist, and : Dface create a hell of an original with : Dface featured on the vocals. : Dface is really showcasing to us his true potential, and I don’t want to jinx him but he is going to blow up pretty soon. The track starts of with heavy drums and cut up vocals while slowly progressing into a killer melody. Then the vocals kick in which harmonize with the track flawlessly. The drop is created with the precise amount of bass for a Moombahton track and some refined synths to get you moving. I know I say this a lot but this track is without a doubt a MUST HAVE!

Pop | Spree Wilson- Sharpshooter

What genre is this? With 2012 the lines of hip hop, funk, pop and, well, everything have become a blurred vision of hella dope groundbreakers. Spree Wilson’s video and song are like if 1967 Funkadelic had a baby with 2008 pop who then met and fell in love with the opening visuals of a James Bond movie.

Progressive House | Addict Djs

Posted by on February 14, 2012

Addict Djs are back with two more remixes utilizing a more catchy uplifting progressive house style. The first remix has been supported by Steve Angello and uses strong piano and synth leads to create a euphoric melody with a smooth and easy build. The remix of Justice & Simian’s classic track “Never Be Alone” is absolutely fantastic combining a high energy piano lead, excellent use of those recognizable vocals and a driving bass line to create this melodic progressive house track.
